So did anyone else go? Played ACII today, and I must say. ITS. AWESOME.

The free running is much more fluid, and there are some minor tweaks which are cool.

One little effect I really liked was when you fell in water, you cloak became wet and dark, then dried out.

A single criticism. When the characters are talking, it sometimes comes up with the Italian, then the English in brackets next to it. Seemed a bit silly.

10-27-2009, 03:16 PM
They did that so we could learn a bit while we play lol. Honestly though thats a minor complaint its not like the brackets will break your ability to read or play the game, plus who wouldent mind picking up a few phrases from another language?

And to be honest, it just strengthens the immersion in a way, since it is after all based in Italy... :P

I know, it's just strange when you have subtitles going for ages. But Overall, it's a great game.=

It's very fun to headbutt someone off a roof :P

I am wondering did you get to use the broom? and how was throwing dirt?

mikeh1294
10-27-2009, 03:44 PM
Alas, no broom or dirt http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

But smoke bombs + poisoned dagger were used http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

And I played the 9th mission I think.

I think not. Other people have posted videos on youtube which were linked to the forums and they were never taken down.

So does Ezio climb fast by default or is it more involving than that?

fossa1991
10-27-2009, 04:18 PM
why were the videos so short???

mikeh1294
10-27-2009, 04:22 PM
@kyle, he climbs pretty fast. but when there is a big jump, you hold R1 + X and he jumps up, but then you need to press O (Grab) to grab hold of the ledge. The climbing is much more fluid.

@fossa, I got asked to stop filming by the guy. That and it was my turn http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

What was actually fighting with the hidden blade like?

mikeh1294
10-28-2009, 03:29 AM
Fighting with the hidden blade is good, Ezio uses it like a mini-sword. You can also sometimes jump on them and assassinate them in mid-battle.

And I forgot to mention, the guards have health meters above their heads, thats what those red squares are.

Another video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B0pf-tbs3Io). Someone who was there mentions that "the problem was the staff. For some reason they didn't like people filming without press badges" http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

Yeah, the Ubi dude told me why. Basically, high up Ubisoft guys said "We don't want you to have ACII playable there." And apparently they told them to "basically go and <span class="ev_code_RED">EDIT</span>" and brought it anyway. And they didn't want people filming it just in case.

Only when they were waving their arms around or on the ground. I managed to do it in a combo with the hidden blades.

Just to clarify this is not the case at all.

Its standard practice at any event like this not to allow photos and videos, the reason being itís impossible to ensure those persons taking images/ videos do so with a quality that reflects the true quality of the game.

Ultimately any footage taken gets online and then causes worry among the community who are then rightly concerned about the quality on view.

Add to this weíve released a huge amount of high quality video footage thereís really no need for this kind of recording to take place http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

I obviously donít know who you spoke to but at this stage before release an event like this would always have playable demo available, not to mention IF they'd been told not to take it they absolutely would not have done so, doing so would result in instant dismissal for them all http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

By the way, the demo is the same as the TGS one, but you get longer on there, you get to play most of the 9th memory block.

Cool, did you get to play it? Which one did you play, as there were two different missions set up when I was there?

Just got back from the eurogamer expo at leeds, i went on the second day and well it was by far the longest wait out of all the games in their (when i went anyways) but it was worth every minute of the wait!

You got to play a side mission of assasinating someone (can't remember his name) was a fun demo and i must admit the climbing and movement does feel alot more fluid also the climbing feels like you are putting more effort into it as you have to use the grab button and such when jumping up high.

Combat feels alot different mainly because of the fact there are alot more attacks and ways to kill the guards now, when i was watching people play it alot of people played it different using different methods of killing the enemies.

There was a problem with the version though that i noticed, there was ALOT of bugs... and i really hope that they sort this out which im sure they will, there was also a framerate problem but apparantly that has been fixed.

a couple of things i noticed was the addition to buying merc's this helped in alot of situations when fighting against guards and to get into places, also the effects of your armour after you had been swimming was quite a nice touch. Lastly while i was snooping around a bit i went to a shop and upgraded all my armour as the demo has quite a bit of money for you there seemed like alot of different weapons and alot of choices.

Overall i am very pleased with the game and im glad i have preorderd it and cannot wait to play the full game it does look good i just hope they sort out the bugs i saw today

Ely123

What were the bug you noticed?

Littleratty-
10-28-2009, 12:29 PM
erm:

1. The major one i saw was ezio just froze and moved in a frozen state, and his full model turned grey, they had to turn it of and the poor guy lost his turn as hed allready done half the mission !

2. next to some ledges you could stand in mid air, this only happend a few times though

3. i was free running across the top of this building and ezio did a swan dive like he does of the building but he was just laying on the floor in that position

the framerate was very stuttery at times when climbing

there was a few.. im sure they will sort it out but just seemed very bug prone

I've seen that nmber two problem before in a gameplay vid for it a while back! lol, I feel bad for the guy th. aNyways, if it's got some bugs, then I'll get used to them.

How were the enemies? Did you take damage every time they striked you? Or can you just keep defending like altair?

Littleratty-
10-28-2009, 01:13 PM
It was alot harder then AC1, if you are outnumberd you will take damage well i did anyways, the guards can take damage aswell, but its still a one shot kill if you use counter etc, you can headbutt them and do more combos now though and the disarm feature works well...

the smoke bombs are actually very effective, i didnt think i would use them much but they defonatly do work well when you are outnumberd and on your own

Were the controls for AC2 pretty easy to get the hang of?

gingerdave2517
10-29-2009, 05:11 AM
The Mission I got was an assination side quest given to you but the thieves I think.

The aim was to take out 5 archers around the marks compound and then take out the target.

If you saw the TGS demo video it was the same mission and the same build I believe.

The controls were the same, though it took me a minute to get used the the PS3 pad, and if anything it was slightly more responsvie then I remember AC1 being.

The combat had an overhall with the ability to disarm your opponants and then beat them, with their own weapon - very good fun and brutally animated.

I think I got about 40 minutes out of the side mission (last play of the day, no one else was queuing) and if thats the effort that ahs gone into the side missions I can't wait for the main game.

As for the bugs the other guy reported I think they can be put down to the fact that it was the TGS build and thus 4 months old, I imgine there will have been a large amount of polish between then and now.

As I said all in all its looking good people.

Not sure, http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif I didn't really get chased by them that much, I wanted to try the fighting http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

But I didn't get to do any stealth assassinations, the guards always knew I was there, and there is no "blend" button anymore. Hopefully that was just because my notoriety was high, so you can perform some stealth assassinations if you rip the posters and that down.

I was going to make a new topic about when I played it there but I may as well post it here..

I waited about 1hour and a half for this but it was totally worth it. They really improved on the last one. The controls are pretty much the same but R2 has the weapon cycle and L2 was something about vision but I didn't use it. The city looks really nice, and so does the water. I liked how the fact that if you was to fall in the water, your clothes get soaked and they dry off. The canal boat was also very nice, I believe you press O to row. Oh and the hidden blade was also very nice to use. As you may already know, you can actually throw punches with the hidden blade. I found that they blocked the attack but stumbled back quite alot, so they fell off the building (: Oh and picking up dead bodies and dropping them off the building onto random people. I can't think of much else but if you wanna know something just ask (:
