I'd like to thank ms-kleaneasy for making this possible again. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Inspired by the multiplayer of our beloved Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Project Stealth (http://www.projectstealthgame.com) is a UT3 Total Conversion mod based on Stealth Action Multiplayer (SAM) game play. The defending team plays from a first person shooter viewpoint while the infiltrating team plays in a third person view to aid in increasing situational awareness. Project Stealth will feature intense game play where predicting your opponents movements, misdirection, deception and your knowledge of the environment is key to succeeding in your mission.

In order to keep things tidy, the following links go to ModDB.com.
Images (http://www.moddb.com/mods/9033/project-stealth/images)
Videos (http://www.moddb.com/mods/9033/project-stealth/videos)

A few resized samples are below (newer to older):
---------- 2009-03-22:
The Camo visual effect video (http://www.moddb.com/mods/project-stealth/videos/camo-visual-effect#imagebox) was released some time ago, but I forgot to update this thread. But it's finally here now, so enjoy!

And our second Developers Commentary, which can be found at ModDB. Note: 7:51 minute!

Lakehouse Developers Commentary (http://www.moddb.com/mods/project-stealth/videos/dev-comments-lakehouse#imagebox)

In between this one and the previous one was a smaller update with a musical explanation from our composer and the announcement that we are working together with an AAA-animator who worked on many Hollywood blockbusters (The Matrix Reloaded/Revolutions, X-Men: Wolverine and so on)

---------- 2008-10-12:
The first renders of the Neutralization Objective AND the first animation goes public. What a great day. Links are below, because too many images clug up the forum.

Today we released some more screenshots of Lakehouse, which is still pre-alpha, and a render of the security camera.
I'll update this when I got the resized versions. For now, here are the links.

This is already 3 weeks old, but I forgot to post it here:
Lakehouse video (http://www.moddb.com/mods/9033/project-stealth/videos/88445/lakehouse-teaser#imagebox), our first map. The bigger version has better music and video, but you'll need to grab that one of our forums.

Well, the the project is no where near final stages. Thus we have no idea what final performance will average like.

But know that it at the very least will be the UT3 minimum requirements. Though, probably geared more toward the upward recommended requirements.

No it shouldnt, as Liquid Mario says the question was asked and the answer was no. Obviously some seem unsure why that might be so I will explain...

Sticky threads are for game/ event information relating to the product the forums are for. This game mod is not an Ubisoft product albeit influenced by one it is not. If we were to sticky anything the community thought deserved a sticky you would soon have everyone asking for something to be stickied and the entire first pages would be stickys with new posts dissapearing into oblivion http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Might I add that is an explanation not an invitation to try and persuade us otherwise so please dont ask again http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Angel lets be clear, Jackie only ever enforced those rules she and other mods were told to enforce. She did not make them and poking fun that its now been overturned is not graceful http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Please everyone accept this change without the need to drag through the whys and wherefores of its original enforcement. The change has been made, the whys and wherefores of what went before are of no importance and believe me when I say Jackie as well as the entire moderator team are as relieved as anyone here that this has finally been set to rest http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

02-18-2008, 09:30 AM
btw:

The mod is only free if you own a copy of Unreal Tournament 3. The nature of mods is that they will look for the UT3 key.

That being said, this has been made purely by volunteer work.

goodkebab_00

will also mention that with enough updates, this thread wont be needing to be stickied.

Do not do this. This is a warning for everyone, if I see a bump like this again, I will suspend you for a week. This is your official warning on this and understand that we will not accept this just to keep it on the first page.

If there isn't enough to talk about it and it drops to the second page, so be it. Once a question or else comes up that warrants a post in this thread, that is fine, but no more bumping for bumping sakes.

As the project's founder, I am amazed to see how far it has come. Almost a year ago, I could have never imagined the entire team sticking to their work and producing something so amazing.

As the lead visual effects artist I was responsible for making the shaders for the vision modes. It has been some of the most fun, challenging, and rewarding work I have done in a while.

I am extremely pleased with the progress of this project. We have some very talented programmers, mappers, prop artists, character artists, and 2d designers that know how to produce excellent results in the Unreal Engine.

I have no doubt that we will exceed the standards of quality and stability in online gameplay that we originally planned for this project.

Yes, on both counts.

Spies become invisible when standing still in Motion tracking and then distort like camo when they move faster. When the spy is in full sprint, his body is hilighted in pure white.

Just a quick draw-over pointing out the Motion Tracking Look:

The red part of the vision has been tweaked in later versions than this image, but it is functionally the same.

I saw on the PS forums that there was some debate around whether or not there should be just one weapon for the mercenary......at least before the thread got hijacked into a bunch of nonsense (you know the one I'm talking about).
So what was the verdict from the developers?: One weapon; or a rifle, uzi and shotgun?

I like stage maps, but unfortunately you can camp as a mercenary on most of them. Station was the worst, with mercs camping on the balconies, and sniping the spies 8 lives away before they even got in the building. As a host of that one, I have to worn mercs to stay away from that balcony and the 1st floor windows or else I kick them.

Is it really that hard to coop, taz the merc, and then run for cover under the windows? And if you get poisoned, you've always got your mate to heal ya? Jesus Savior, don't be such a n00b. And hey, never ever heard of anyone, who kicked people just because of that reason. Lmao, pull yourself together, and learn how to play as a team. The balcony@window sniping is a part of the station map, weather you like it or not, and it's really not unbalanced. Again, play as a team. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

I am a shameless n00b, but I digress. No matter where you coop on that outside, place there are few instances where the mercenary can't blast you. The middle buildings can be hit by frags easily. The spy using himself as a human ladder is vulnerable to sniper fire from the first floor windows. A good portion of the well lit edge buildings are vulnerable too. And what does coop get you if you make it? Access to the nearby ground floor close to the windows, one of which the other mercenary will be camping at.
And nothings more irritating then losing half your lives before even getting in the building.
Irritation=less people playing the game.

I like stage maps, but unfortunately you can camp as a mercenary on most of them. Station was the worst, with mercs camping on the balconies, and sniping the spies 8 lives away before they even got in the building. As far as I know, no one can touch you at the first coop-point - the one you run straight at. You can always taz the merc on the balcony, and if there's a merc at the window, he's not that hard to get through, and if anything, you're always able to run into the hole on your right side. There may be a poison-mine there, but you've got your mate to heal you, if you get hit.

Of course you get killed sometimes in the beginning, but that's just how station is. You've got 5 lives and 12 minutes, so please stop whining, lol.

In my opinion, the only bad thing about station is, that you have a hard time as spy, if you choose to blow up the bomb, but that's all. And again, kicking people for camping the balcony/window like everybody do, is just 100 % lame. It was the map-makers' purpose, that mercenaries should stand out there or inside sniping.

Irritation=less people playing the game is true yeah, but I don't really think the irritation of one map, will stop people playing the game. A lot of people love station, and a lot of people hate it, but that's how it is with all maps. The map may not be that n00b friendly, but I guess there have to be maps made for skilled players too, aight?

Fair enough. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
I let the mercs camp on the balcony and windows today. I wasn't going to, but I imagined you breathing down my neck. Only thing was, I wasn't able to counter it as a spy because the pro Jacob (who was on my team) kept blowing everyone's head off, prompting to rookie players to leave outright and keeping us from our spy turn. I did some camping myself, but I wasn't all that good at it, and sniped only one spy who was climbing up the fence.
And while I was right about the irritation thing, you were right in saying that I had to improve my tactics. Pro Blackveldt and Med Athethan both managed to pass our defenses and plant a bomb. So its not impossible. Just extremely hard.
Edit: I found getting to Stage 2 after planting a bomb impossiblei, not just hard. Sure, breeching two mercs on balconies and windows may be possible. But the mercs are completely within their boundaries to gun spies down as you move through the tunnel. The spies can't dodge, they can't fire, and they can't move even moderately slow. There may have been more than one tunnel exit, but the mercs could mine them, and with the spies unable to pull out their tazer to fire chaff.

Which is why the bomb objective is badly balanced. The best way is to hack the train.

Is Project Stealth going to be multiplayer-only?

savior2006
04-08-2008, 02:11 PM
I'd like to see bots in Project Stealth for both mercs and spies. To help the rookies mesh into the game better. There'd be less learning by hard knocks what a person might do.
With the Unreal Tournament 3 engine, I don't see why it would be hard, other than programming complex AI is a pain.

Yes, it will only be multiplayer.

There is an extremely slim chance that there will be bots for either team.

That's total poo. A mod as amazing as this deserves to be a standalone title any day. Being solid work from a team of volunteers, this honestly is some of the best work I've seen as it is. Just reading the forums over there of Mr.Mic's "just fooling around" picture of the spy looking through the window with shades, and all of goodkebab's amazing work, are enough to die for in a game like that.

I'm really sad for one that my computer is pathetic and I could never play that, and two, that there's no single player. I wouldn't care if the story was the worst I've ever played or even if there were just three short missions, just the chance to play something as cool as that would be enough for me.

I'd dish out $80 in a heartbeat if this were a 360 title with a single player campaign, and I know lots of other people would too.

scworld

Single Player would be like Counterstrike vs bots, or random skirmishes in any RTS game. But the AI that is needed is beyond our capacity.

Standalone isn't possible, unless we win the license for the UT3 engine, like 800000 euros.

PS will only be Multiplayer. Bots are impossible for this type of gameplay and will truly diminish the fun of having a two-on-two battle using tactics and human intelligence. The only reasons Double Agent was able to do Merc bots was becuase the game was gimped in terms of Gadgets. You couldn't place mines or traps etc. There is no feasible way to make Bots place mines in good locations, no matter how good the AI is. The only possible way is to give the Bots pre-determined areas that mines/traps can be placed, but then after a while they will all be memorized by human players and it will destroy the whole point.

And I don't even wanna get started on the idea of Spy Bots. AI isn't that good yet in games and any attempt will be a hollow experience that people quickly forget about.

It's multiplayer only, that was our goal from the beginning and unless everyone on the dev team leaves and is replaced by completey differant people, this won't change.

Oh, I guess I didn't explain very well what I meant by single player, sorry about that.

What I meant was a single player campaign with a storyline and a few missions, like being a spy and sneaking into a merc camp to retrieve vital intel or something.

I'm not talking about a full, substantial story and plot with eighteen missions and a can't-live-without replay value, just two or three levels and a simple story tossed in as bonus content or something.

But I understand how single player matches against bots wouldn't work. And in the social aspect, even if the bots were amazing, it would still be incredibly dull playing by yourself something that's designed to be a social game.

How long time did you use on the MP? - I mean, it takes time to get good at - what did you expect? It's not Counter-Strike you're dealing with here, lol.

And everybody can complete the SP-mode (completed the first SC on Hard, when I was 11 years old ect.), so the MP is actually where all the fun starts, where the real challenge begins. Yeah, the MP separates the n00bs from the pros. And if anything, what are you gonna do, when you have made it through all the missions of the SP? - just do it again ir switch to an other game? The MP-mode really extends the lifetime of the game.

That frame of mind isn't limited to age.

I've seen some kids at that age act more mature than I do at mine.

My pastor's son, twelve years old, talks about gas prices and the like with us. I was surprised he'd even have any interest on the subject, and he was doing a lot of the talking himself. I don't need to dumb anything down for him, he's a smart kid and really mature.

And on the other hand, you have me, almost an adult. I'm the kind of guy who would frag my own allies in an unranked match, just for a laugh.

Maturity comes at different ages, and by limiting to older ages, you'll find some adults that are pretty noobish. And the immature kids will just lie about their age anyway.

Anyway, for those who haven't see it yet:
Lakehouse (http://www.moddb.com/mods/9033/project-stealth/videos/88445/lakehouse-teaser#imagebox), our first map.

Outstanding, I just might have to get back into PC gaming http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

Congrats. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

I'm going to have to buy that magazine so that when Project Stealth is famous, I'll have a collector's item. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

How does a boy in urban America go about getting a UK magazine... I'll check Amazon first. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

This game looks like it could be competition for SC's spy vs merc.

Just one more thing, I don't mean to be an annoyance, but how about female spies in your game, that would be awesome and you would probably get alot more fans.

Extra skins/models will most likely be added after the first version has been released. A new model takes around 5-6 months, so it's not on our current to-do list http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif but for later, yup.

Don't know about lady spies. It'd be too tempting for the devs to make them glorified pole dancers like the ones in Double Agent. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif

LOL i never understood why the higher class you acheived with a chick in DA meant the less clothing you got. Obviously it was meant to make guys play the game but it would have worked better if you could keep leveling up and taking more and more clothes off till she was running around in butt floss.

damn, that makes me wanna learn about programming :P

oh one question - is the game the same as SCCT with improved graphics and new maps or do you come up with your own ideas of gameplay? because from what I've seen so far, I'ts the same stuff, but a bit renewed.

Well as a fan and long time promoter/follower of this project, yes you have your opinion, but at the same time it is kinda of insulting.

Everything is done from scratch, soo its going to be basically the modern day pandora tommorrow

no one is gunna know every niche of a map and also a map editor will breathe even more life into PS because people will be able to make thier own plus it will be a learning expirence for everyone and yar won't be rediculed as a noob right off the top like the current situation it is in chaos theory with Impatient People.

Current plan is to have a beta by the end of August. But, there is a lot of variables to consider, so if that doesn't happen, don't cry about it.

you can get a decent pc for the amount of money you paid for an Xbox, I remember i sold a pc to a guy for about 300 , 4 gigs of ram 3 gig dual core and 600 gig hard drive with an ati 4670.

Which hall? And which booth number?

I don't know if it was said here anywhere but I want to ask which game will be required to play Project Stealth?

Aj6627

It requires Unreal Tournament 3.

I don't know what hall and booth, but you can probably find out at www.projectstealthgame.com (http://www.projectstealthgame.com)

EDIT: Hall 08.1 Stand B052b

There you go. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

wow, this looks like someone just took ubi's idea from PT, and completely ripped it off, like exact, (but made it better). if you didn't know better, and read up on project stealth, you'd think ubi just went an made PT's MP game a completely separate entity. (once again, made it better though). http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

It doesn't count as a rip off when Ubisoft threw it in the trash to start with....

IMHO SvM always sucked and Im glad they took it out. Project Stealth looks alright but won't be close to competing with SCC.
