View Full Version : Multiple Controller Problems ,....HELP !!!!

I am currently using a MS FF2 joystick .When I try to add my MS USB Gamepad , the sim won't recognize my joystick HOTAS . I can map the buttons out okay , and the X,Y,and Z axis's in the controls section . But when I go to the input/hardware screen (green and red calibration blocks and FF) the game is not registering my joystick movements , just the gamepad .I know that I have to go into my conf.ini file to change something , but what do I change ? I would really like to be able to use the extra controller for the obvious reasons . Can anyone help me out ? Please ?????????

Yes, I know that this belongs in the Tech Forum . I posted here because I wasn't getting any feedback .
How do I make my MS FF2 joystick controller #1 ? Everytime I try to use it in conjunction with my Gamepad , the gamepad automatically is #1 and I can't use HOTAS on the FF2 .
Can anyone please help me ????

Hi.

I have a similar setup at home. I have my stick and a USB gamepad that i sometimes plug in. Wehn you plug in your Gamepad it becomes joystick id 0. The in game joystick control panel only shows the axis's for joystick id 0.
There is nothing you can do, because in XP you cannot change joystick Id's. If you happen to be running 98' you can change id's.

My solution is to unplug my gamepad when i fly. Thats easy and not very hard to do whenever i need to.

Now there is another way for both to co-exist. It would require you to edit your conf.ini file. What u would need to do is first unplug your gamepad. Get your stick setup in FB while it is on id 0. Get the deadzone and all that set. Then shut off FB. Plug your gamepad back in. Start FB again. Now in the hotas section of controllers, assign the x,y and Z axis back to the stick again. What will happen is that although you will not be able to edit the stick directly thru FB control panel now (remember it can only work with joy id 0) the game will put entries into the config.ini for the stick on joy id 1. Now exit the game, open up conf.ini in a text editor (notepad will do) find the joystick section of the file. You should see a bunch of different axis's. What u want to do is take the axis control lines you had already configured for the stick when it was joy id 0 and copy those into the lines that now refer to the stick as joy id 1.

it will look like this: this is mine (don't use mine though, different setup because my rudders are on id0)

so all u need to do is take the lines labeled 1x=, 1y=, 1rz=
and duplicate those lines as 1x1=, 1y1=, 1rz1=

so what u have done is configured the joystick as u want it while it was on id 0 and could be seen in the in game control panel, then u have manually copied those same settings and moved them into the position for joy id 1 in the conf.ini. ( so when the stick becomes id 1 instead of 0 when u plug the gamepad in, the proper lines exist now in conf.ini)

I hope this is not too confusing. I don't know your tech level of experience but this is fairly straight forward.
