Bush *might* take global warming seriously now.

Thinking Kyoto Protocol attacks USA economy? I hope hundreds (if not thousands) dead and 25 billion dollars make him think about it twice.

Please. This hurricane had nothing to do with global warming whether the source is the sun (most likely) or human activity (minimal to no contribution). Fact is that the rate hurricane numbers per season dropped below the average over the past 20-odd years. It's only just coming back.

Also, the people who claim that storms will be more intense don't understand the GW hypothesis they claim they believe. Anthropogenic warming via CO2 is postulated to cause differential warming at the poles - the polar regions get warmer, while the equatorial regions stay the same temp. Temp differences are the major engine of weather - when a cold air mass and a warm air mass meet, that's when you get violent storms, tornadoes and the like.

Incidentally, if human beings are responsible the warming observed over the past 150-odd years, why is Mars also warming up?

Yes, exactly, that's why the Bush administration is now allowing the refineries to produce gas now WITHOUT the anti-pollutant additives, yea! more fuel! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

and perhaps now we can get more refineries built! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Leave it to somebody to try to make this all the President's fault. Yes, in less than six years of the presidents administration the global environment has changed so radically that we get a huge hurricane...I feel so guilty and we deserved it! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

My Prayers are with the people of the Gulf Coast states. I've lived through a flood in New Orleans back in the 70s...you trade your car for a canoe for a few days.

http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif The intellectual bankruptcy over Kyoto is just breathtaking. Not even Clinton bought into that carnival scam. Just hand over billions to counties that still soil and pollute themselves to death, and somehow we will be saved from hurricanes. I can't imagine anything more sensible.

Do you really believe that not a single iota of the blame can be put on the tons of fosil fuels we've been burning, which coincidentally really started big time 150 years ago.

True. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

But its unbelievable that people see this catastrophe as chance to start looting.

I dont mean the people that trying to get to food ,water and medicine.

Im talking of the guys that now walk around stealing cars , looting houses and shoot on police and even rescue forces that try to save lifes. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

How can anyone come to the idea to open fire on an rescue helicopter. Preventing people from beeing rescued. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

Today they said that even cases of raping were reported there.

If someone said this had happened somewhere else like in the third world or so i wouldnt wonder. But in the USA ? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif Has it come so far ?

I never heard of something similiar.

Whats going on over there in New Orleans ? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

CEL999,

This HAS happened before in the USA...The LA Riots after the Rodney King Verdict is just one example. There were also big riots in Chicago during the 68 democratic national convention and more riots in Washington DC in the 60s.

...I think Pyschiatrists would call it Mass Hysteria. People in New Orleans have been cut off from communication and are feeling forgotten. They don't even have a TV or radio to listen to...

...This is also what a u boat commander had to manage when his boat was under DC attack and his crew had their eyes on him...

Its insane over there. It really does look like a 3rd world country on the news.
Whats worst than the looting though, is the fact that the police were told that stopping the looting was number one priority. 1000+ officers were told to stop the looting instead of helping dying, trapped starving people.
If you told me a story about how a police officer went to stop someones car being stolen above saving a dying black person, I wouldnt of believed it until now.
You cant give the message that their lives arent that important, any clearer.

Louisian,a and in particular New Orleans, is one of the most corrupt places in the US. It is not surprising that any of this is happening at all. Nor is it surprising that relief is taking so long to get there. The governor is obviously not the best governor there. To be nice....

Other than that part of the problem is they are putting most of their effort in to rescuing people and not law enforcement. That all has changed now. 1500 police officers are now putting more effort into stopping looters and shooters instead of rescue operations, which the National Guard is doing.

Just heard in the news that a few hundred people from the german THW (T)echnisches (H)ilfs(w)erk are on route to New Orleans.

A friend of mine is working there and they are real professionals in rescue operations http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

The Luftwaffe also offered help with Medevac airplanes and doctors.

You really think that we can pump as many pollutants out as we want, with no consequences?
I guess the hole in the o-zone was nothing to do with us. Hairspray destroying the protective layer of our atmosphere, thats just waaaaaay outa here. Acid rain from pollution? no way.

Anyway, Im not saying GW was anything to do with Katrina, or that GW is caused by us(I think that we probabl havent helped matters). But just because they're not, doesnt mean that was can pump out pollution with immunity.

Throwing names at me shows your ignorance.
If you can find any info for me that has facts showing that pollution has no negative effect on the world whatsoever, then ill submit to your wisdom.

Heard the latest news ?

First they rejected to let the german pioneer soldiers participate in the rescue operations with the fishy comment :

"we need to check first if the u.s law allows foreign soldiers to commence rescue operations in our country "

Yeah right. The people that need help surely prefer to die instead of being rescued by a non-american. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

Now the USA rejected to let 10 tons of german food aid to the people in New Orleans.

Official comment : "We fear that the food might be infected with mad cow disease" http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

(Just by the way : There are now cow meat products overall in these 10 tons)

This administration is unbelievable. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif

If it is too shameful for them to take help from germany they should have the courage and say it.

But instead of this they come with more and more sci-fi storys why they "cant" (wont http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif ) take our help.

Im curious what the next story will be.

We cant take you help because ...... ehhhm ...wait.... ah yeah right ! : We cant take germanys help because we fear that al-qaida terrorists are among the german THW workers http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

Mind that he`s been voted to remain in the office.
Your people in the past were led to believe in certain things which later escalated to a point of a complete lunacy, where there was no way back and the ultimate result was a complete devastation.
Overconfidence is a shortcut to one`s own destruction.

Right. But look at the result he won the elections with.

It was only a very small advantage in front of Kerry. So you cant really say that it is a true majority standing behind his politics.

And after this "disaster help" disaster http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif and the ongoing iraq catastrophy it will be even less support for him. At least i know 2 states that wont vote for the republicans next elections so much is sure. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

His administration is already falling apart.
Think about Powells resign and the comments he made a few days ago in that TV interview.
He will not be the last that will try to get distance between himself and George to save his head.

The NSDAP and Hitler were voted with about 89 % of the votes. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
