I am flying a P40 during Pearl Harbor, 1941... No matter how many planes I shoot down (not many generally) or what else I do or how long I stay alive, this mission never ends! All I get is the Refly option. I thought you could move forward regardless of completion ?

Anyway, What are my objectives? I never see any specific objectives. Mus tbe missing something... Please enlighten me ! ;-)

I would like to know myself. It is a fun mission with lots of action, but enough is enough. The most I have shot down is 3 planes, while my wing man shot down 3+. Then we both got waxed. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

when you start the campaign in the difficulty section you need to be sure to deselect no instant sucess (I believe its on from default)

Thank you - that did it..
Sadly once you are past that mission, it's pretty much the end of the camnpaign ;-( The next mission is the same you'd have gotten if you had picked the next campaign down the list...

This sim is really well done but the campaigns really suck ! Lots of flying over water, very little action ! I hope that gets fixed from the "factory" at some point.

Don't hold your breath. The mission generator has a distinct "feel" that is pretty much the same since the original FB.

However, some campaigns are nice, like the Okinawa one, and in general all those where you have a carrier near objective and the objective is not huge.

This way you get a lot of action, and little to no land with no action (immersion problem in other campaigns.. Often you can avoid enemies by simply taking a longer route).

Thanks for the tip. I'll try okinawa tonight...That's probably P51s or late USN planes though...

I was hoping for better action in P40s and Seafires.. Oh well...

These tips are for 'Realistic' campaign (or any campaign with "No Instant Success"=ON).

Well, be sure that you see message "Hidden target:Complete" while landing (that will do in any case, if you meet objectives and also if you fail to meet them). That is one way to make sure that green button "APPLY" will apper after you hit ESC "Quit mission button". Also, "APPLY" button will appear if you see "Mission Complete" message at some point of your mission -- take notice that in this case you do not even have to land (if your mission is to intercept bombers, then it can be achieved by shoting few bombers down -- notice that you do not have to shot them down, it will work if your squadron mates shot them down also). Shoting down enemy planes & boosting you personal record does not mean neccesarily that you will end your mission succesfully. Pay good attention to mission objectives. I don't have really good personal record (average 25-30 enemy planes shot down in 200 missions), I just try to end mission in most efficent way.(you know I'm really lazy guy, I do not want to take any chances, 'cause I really do not like to repeat one mission zillion times)http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Believe me, after ~1000 'Realistic' campaign missions I know this stuff.. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

That is of course, if they did not change something in PF (I have AEP v2.04 currently).

Aaahh... campaigns. You should switch to Paul Lowegrin's IL2 Dynamic Campaign Generator. It generates much better campaings that the DGEN provided with FB. You can get it here.

Paul is working on a new version for Pacific Fighters.

The first time I flew the mission, I got 6 kills before I ran out of ammo and had a Kate knock out my engine. I glided to a landing at my original home base and got a mission complete message when I landed.

I never saw my wingman after I dove on the first flight of Zeros.

I just took a look at the mission in the FMB and your mission goals are hidden.......... You have 2 hours to land and come to a stop at every airfirld on the Island. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/34.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/354.gif

Actually I tested it & you can land at any airbase to complete the mission. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif
