Just simple I have been playing in the game for awhile now does the P-38L ever become available to fly in the game.

I don't fly the P38 personally, but there's a 'P38L' and 'P38L late' in the game (I'm flying patched to version 4.04m). Make sure you patch the game fully, the patches are really updates and include many aircraft, objects, new clouds, new flight model, new AI etc.

I think what he means is in the single player. From my understanding, the sigle player was designed BEFORE the P-38 was added, so no, I dont think in the single player compaign you will ever get it. You can edit your save file and change your squad to the P-38. Ask around on how.

You can edit campaign files to allow the P-38 to be normally selectable, which has the added benefit of briefings not referring to the plane you you had before you edited the save file etc.

Head over to Airwarfare.com's Mission 4 Today section. There are several P-38 single-player campaigns available there. I recently downloaded an Ira Bong campaign. So far, it's pretty good.

If you do co-ops, I recommend "A Horseride Across Italy". My friend, 4H_Ccrashh put it together, and I and the rest of the Horsemen helped test it. Be prepared for some fairly long missions. Some could last an hour and a half.

IIRC the USAAF Japan 1945 campaign has the P-38L as a choice

I know this is not the right Forum Section for this, but:

Reshuky, if you like the P-38, and want to learn how to fly it properly in the sim, maybe you will want to meet me in HyperLobby....

Cheers!
