Now and you look at tis forum and search for useful information all you get is trash. I come to this forum for useful information to make my paid copy of CMXI run ,work and perform properly with the latest updates. Instead it is like reading a PC magizine on how to optimize a PC instead of a chess game with frivolous unnessary information and how to make your processor run everything.
Now who would want to waste their time coming here anymore. It certainly not resolvimg online game issues,or latest updates for CMXI. Is their anyway to take these programmers off this site and stick them back to a PC lab so they can sell and manufacture PC's there?

Dear GMKnight

You've been around since Nov 2007 on this forum.
SO, you're not a newbie and you have posted lots of messages and received lots of advice.

So.....what seems to be your latest problem
with CM XI then?

Maybe I can help you.

The problem has been with the CMXI online game site. Every time I login to play, the server has problem in allowing me to accept and play opponents on the server. I have done all the instructions in the CMXI official manual about setting up to play online on the internet.
Also there are no downloads in the forum for chessmaster grand edition

Yeah. About that second point. We have these petulant moderators who seem intent on running this forum into the ground. The rest of us can't help it.

Yeah. Last week it seemed like every new member received some level of sarcasm for asking naive questions that any newbie might ask. Alienating every single new member is hardly the way to keep a forum thriving.

In response to the OP's post, the fact is, a forum is only as useful as its members make it. Recently there have been lots of technical questions about the CM program and how to optimize a computer to help it work better, so responses have been technical. If you want more focus on other topics simply post questions or material of that nature. The forum is open, so it's not as if members are stifling talk on a particular subject (unless you count the spate of recent thread disappearances).

How could I police the site? I'm just a member like everyone else, with no more or less influence than anyone else.

Yeah, they have indeed done what EVERY forum member's responsibility is. BUT they've also driven away so many new members that a forum for a new game appears as dead as a forum for a five year-old game. It's no use even if a member is extremely helpful if at the same time he's killing the forum. Plus, if the moderator cared so much about the community, why did he delete every helpful post he made? That doesn't sound like the act of a person who wanted to help the community.

A moderator's first responsibility is to keep a forum a welcoming and friendly place to be. This forum's moderator did exactly the opposite, and when he was called on it he removed half the helpful threads on the forum. I mean how abusive does that guy have to be before you realise he's been taking advantage of you?

If the moderator had the best interests of the forum at heart he would have discussed the issue of his attitude openly on the forum. There was absolutely no need to fly into a rage and destroy all his contributions.

The thing is, all the new members who he turned away - they had contributions to make too - perhaps even important contributions. But their future business on the forum was merely potential, so it's hard to see their potential for what it might have been. Yes, Ebutaljib contributed greatly to the forum, but he also detracted greatly from it - not least in terms of the fact that he removed his own contributions to it in a virtual orgy of destructive rage when a member committed the heinous crime of asking him to stop being sarcastic to a new member.

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/354.gif Those threads are developed by input from few or many and took credit all for him/herself. Now it is up to you and those that can recover the threads, if he/she is not humble enough to recover and have the right attitude. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif Not only that but the moderator whoever is next need to be moderated cause of the fine example he/she showed, http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gifmaybe that is why he/she did itthat way. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif to show an example of responsibility for being a moderator, rememember there is still another one http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif what is that one doing to help resolve the problem?, : http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I know the reason why chessmaster is falling behind with the online game mode.

The reason is simply, when ebutaljib was a moderator in this forum he never actually plays chessmaster online as you can see I havent seen him once logon to the chessmaster lobby. He is a guy who talks alot, no desrespect but he doesn't play chessmaster online and that's the reason why he hasn't taken this seriously.
WE NEED!! A moderator who will play chessmaster online and will report all the posssible bugs relating to the online mode to UBI tech support team.
I still regard ebutaljib the wrong man because he doesn't play it online maybe he's got FRITZ that's why he probably says to himself "who cares about chessmaster online I will play fritz instead". And due to this he hasn't given any damn about it and hasn't reported the bugs to UBI!

Just a second...

I can understand people taking exception at Ebutaljib's demeanor, but this is something entirely different.

I don't know if Ebutaljib played Chessmaster online, Fritz, or whatever... but he was the forum moderator, not technical support. And in case anyone forgot, Ebutaljib volunteered to be the forum moderator. He wasn't an Ubisoft employee, nor did he receive any special consideration for his services.

The blame for any bugs (and I agree, there are some) belongs solely with Ubisoft -- Ebutaljib (or any other moderator) has nothing to do with reporting or fixing issues.

Frankly, you'd think that someone from Ubisoft's Chessmaster team would occasionally look at this forum. A while ago, there were a few responses from some of the developers (such as Taraboste) but it hasn't been a regular habit of theirs.

Honestly, CrUeL_KNIGHTS, where do you come up with this stuff? There's no evidence that Ebutaljib didn't play CM11 online because you don't have to play using your forum name.

Even if he didn't play online, so what? I mean as KHollister says, he was a forum moderator, and although I personally think he was a bad one, you don't even have to play the game at all in order to moderate a forum well.

The point was that had he been a chessmaster online gamer as well as a moderator he would've supported us with the chessmaster online bugs.
He would've understanded our problems and reasons about chessmaster. I know he hasn't played chessmaster with another name because I have seen him once login for a few seconds and then logout again but since then I havent seen him login anymore nor did I see him play. And since I saw him login once that means that he wouldn't have played with another account because that serial number which he has registered with ebutaljib cannot be registered again with a different name. Your saying "if he didn't play it online so what?" It makes a difference because he wouldn't understand our pain with the CM online experience. Had he experienced the same pain as ours he would've taken action by passing the information to the chessmaster team.
The same thing happens with EA(Electronic Arts) forum moderators often say, I will pass this on to the EA stuff. Same thing I would presume with chessmaster.
Forum name is the same as UBI account name they are not seperate, they are together.
