Has a firing rate that seem more than a little optimistic for a WW 1 era weapon. Don't you think?

It should be about 550 rounds per minute; it's not too shabby, actually. Are you seeing something much higher?

I don't know how fast it fires in game, but can you be more specific?

Should shoot 9-10 rounds per second.

Watching it shoot in slo-mo, it fires about 25 bullets per burst, and each burst lasts about 2.5 seconds. Each round appears to be tracer.

Seems similar to the DA machine gun (one on TB-3). Kinda looks like it too.

I am not sure about a 7.62 maxim AAA gun, but I have personally fired about 17 different types of machine guns including an 1908 maxim machine gun that was water cooled, cloth belt feed, and of 7.92/8mm mauser caliber. I remember it having a rate of fire which sounded like 450 - 500 rds per minute. I fired this gun every weekend for several years running atleast 2-5 belts of 200 rds each firing.

On the other hand, it's great that we now have small calibre ground fire....

Maxim has a ROF of 600rpm, and it could be accelarated to 850rpm. It also was modified at least in Finland to use metal belts instead of the cloth ones.

what maxim machine gun is this? the 1908? if it is the 1908 it would have to be highly modified because it only fired 450-500 rds per minute, I know because I fired thousands and thousands of rounds through one for nearly 10 years.

..... Check exactly what was shooting at you, if possible. Russian Maxim AA mounts often had three guns.

This was the single maxim from the FMB.

A truck mounted quad maxim for the ruskies would be cool though!!

Yes, it's true. Check your artillery list in FMB.

Doesn't seem it would be all that effective giving it would have a very small effective radius some 800m or so against an aircraft. Doesn't provide any real air defense. Those guns would have better servered in a ground fire support role.

Now mount 4 UBS machine guns on a AA pod like that and that would be effective.

im sure early war missions/campaigns/servers could use single .30 AA guns as the quad .50/20mm and other guns were not around early in the war.

a few single 20mm and a whack of .30 cal aa guns could make interesting ground attack missions for the biplanes and like in the game

more effect on framerate than the wirblewind ( or whatever ) http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif
