Being a homesick Finn in Pennsylvania, I decided to do some Googling. It's a long, but very, VERY fascinating article. I urge you to read it!!!

Cheers Brewster.

Fascinating article.
Finland acted with great morality and nobility that is a credit to it's people.

Faced with such collosal predicament throughout the war, but managed to come out of it with respect and honour, truly a remarkable acheivement in those dark days.
I've always had a lot of respect for the Finns and how they handled the war(s), but that article has defianetly increased it.

On the evidence, among those figures in positions of power and influence during his time, Mannerheim must rank as one of the most honorable and farsighted.

Whenever I encounter such uplifting stories, I can't help but get moist-eyed.

In general, the Nordic/Scandinavian peoples are much to be admired. In spite of small populations, they sure gave Hitler and co. a lot of headaches!

" In 1827 Tsar Nicholas I issued an edict requiring Jewish boys from the age of 12 who became known as cantonists - to undertake 25 years of compulsory military service."

Ouch.
