Occasionally I see reference to the German's use of night ground aircraft. I have enough trouble seeing vehicls and artillery pieces in the day time. Does anyone know what types of aircraft were used and how they were modified to make them into night ground attack aircraft?

I know not what course others may choose, but as for me, give me computer games or give me television!

Ju88 (C versions) were typically used in night intruder
raids, which were designed to drop light bombs on
airfields over enemy territory, and shoot down returning
bombers.

The RAF also did this, using Blenheims, A20s, Bostons, and
Mosquito NFIIs for the most part (no. 23 squadron
was the premier exponent). AFAIK these were largely
stock apart from the paint schemes, and some variation
in the fixed armament from standard in some instances.

I am not sure what the USSR did, but for low level
night bombing often the little Po-2 (aka U2) was used.
