i think that the hidden blade is a good idea but there is one down side to it. the way you use it in combat is a purely defensive stratagy. i meen why cant therebe some cool counters more often when fightin wid the HB. the upside is that you can pull off some cool moves wid it like a eagle slice and well the assassination. please put your comments id love to see them.

the hidden blade is meant to be hidden, not for everyday fights to the death

It is a game. In reality a hidden blade like that would be a very bad idea.

okay, well, lets remember for a second that the game is heavily grounded in reality. do you think that blade would stand a chance slashing against a 5 foot sword? didn't think so.

But it would be very effective if used as a "main gauche" while using a sword as the primary weapon.

as Jade had said in an interview, I believe it was the E3 one, the hidden blade is a last resort in combat. so if some how your out of throwing knives your dagger and sword magicaly break you arent supposed to use the HB. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/disagree.gif

why would you want to use you special hidden blade made especially to kill people discretely in a sword fight. its just stupid the way i see it.

but why cant you use the blade for offensive. like you could block then eagle swipe then stab simple

Plus, it would hurt like heck. You gotta remember, it's a tiny little blade that he can't drop if it gets hit really hard. It'll break his arm. And if he gets his blade broken because he was being stupid with it, he's probably going to be in trouble with his leader.

Instead, a cool way to use it in combat would be for the actual kill alone. It's in the hand opposite your sword, so you block with your sword and stab with a hidden dagger. They'll think your punching them right up until they're dead and it'd be near-impossible to block, unless you want a gaping hole in the middle of your hand (which is better than death, I suppose). Combat is cool already; think of the killer stuff you can pull off by using your sword to fight and your hidden blade to kill in the middle of combat.

The hidden blade reminds me of the guy with the hidden gun in "taxi driver"
If you have seen it, you know what I mean... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

You mustn't have understood what I meant in my post, I asuggested just that when I said it could be used as a "main gauche", it's a sword fighting technique using a dagger in the left hand, "main Gauche" literally means "left hand"

Except it does not actually mean that it's a sword fighting technique using a dagger in the left hand, but in your off hand. Left handed people would be using their dagger with their right hand http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I cannot argue with the literal translation btw..

Correct, I have seen that 2. I think it could be used in attacks, but I think / know it's almost impossible to fight someone of who is alert and wielding a sword using only this hidden blade. But it can be used for an attack at an opening in your enemies defense or when he isn't expecting it.
In this case of the new trailer you see Altair dodging the guards attack and then stabbing him with his dagger. After the attack from the guard there is a big hole in his defense ( http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif too big if you ask me), Altair can then easily exploit this hole in his defense and stab him to a certain death.

Yeah, dodging a swordsman and killing him with only your dagger, you must Be quick or Be dead http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

The Hidden Blade isnt called the HIDDEN BLADE for no reason <.<

Come on why would you use your supersecert weapon in a fight against monkeys?!

You should pull out the super boomboom/sliceslice
in the endfight or also in Assassinations!
Not against some random bum -.-

In my eye's, not a bad idea! But basicly...
Insted of showing the enemy my Hidden weapon so they know about it, Id rather slice there guts and poor there blood all over the freakin place.
Chop of there leg, or even let headbuts rain down on em "If possable" Oh man I hope it is >http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

@BioSin
I understand your opinion, but why not use the hidden blade to get a tactical advantage over your enemy (even "bums").
No matter how you use it, they'll find out you have one eventually. If you use it wisely it should not matter. I have some sword fighting skills, and if I would have the chance to finish an enemy off quickly using my off hand with "my hidden blade" or dagger, why shouldn't I, why should I risk getting hurt or dead by not using it...
Also I then can concentrate on the objective or 1 of the other enemy's surrounding me.

Anyway... I think this has been discussed over and over again before. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

ummmm i wanted to know how it was made.

i dont mean from household objects imean i want 2 know where every gaer is positioned and everything else.

i already figuered out how to make it open and close with just flicking ur wrist but that has no gears, buttons, or a saftey feature

Ive been thinking the same about the hidden blade, I mean, its pretty clear that is designed for stealth kills, but Ubi should make it able for fights from time to time with some counter-attacks or something like that... sooooo, that means I agree with you ffmark.

the hidden blade be used offensively in many open conflict situations:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVt55SoTSCg
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mRMw24xs2I

part of the the last vid above was also featured in the vid in my signature. 11 guards were wiped out in the span of 30 seconds using the hidden blade.

and of course, the hidden blade can be used in a counter attack:

Hidden blade? Defensive? No counters?
Are these recent developments? I've been using it primarily for my recent playthroughs; it's the only weapon which guarantees fatal counters. It is incredibly frustrating watching Altair punch and kick people when he has a ****-off knife well within stabbing distance.

It's only useful FOR counters, mind, which makes sense. Can't attack and can't block. It's a sacrifice that works, though.
