For those of you eagerly awaiting the release of the add-on patch as detailed by wags on 9/12/2003, here's the latest unofficial status via an intercepted internal email to UBI management.

Excerpts from an email message from Oleg (allegedly)....

"work on the latest patch (codenamed the Happy Yank Patch) is almost complete and we are confident that all four of the new aircraft will be ready by the middle of October 2003.

Currently we are completing the P51 model, which is being updated following the release of new technical data from our Hollywood research team. We will now include full modelling of the 2" armour plated laminar flow wings and fuselage. The Packard Merlin 65 engine will develop the full 35,000hp and the aircraft will be armed with the standard 4" howitzers (1000 rounds each) with a RoF (Rate of Fire) of 6000 rounds per minute. Extra ammunition can be selected as an option. As to the flight model, we are attempting to validate the quoted roll rate of 400 degrees per second, but I'm pretty sure that sounds about right.

The A6M5 and Ki-84-1a will also be accurately represented and testing of the traditional Japanese airframe construction technique (Balsa wood and spit laminate) is progressing well. Unfortunately the damage models still require tweaking (currently the aircraft break up at 1.01G) but we're confident we can reach the target of 1.2G by release date.

I'm also pleased to confirm that requests from FB Users via Oleg's Ready Room have also been included wherever possible and that the first enhancement will be the "Guns on a Slider" feature was proposed by RBJ."

....end of intercepted email.

Well, that sounds promising.

"(1000 rounds each) with a RoF (Rate of Fire) of 6000 rounds per minute" so... there will be about 10 seconds of firing time? Oh, well- only one howitzer hit will be required hehe http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Since I'm not in the mood for bad jokes, I just don't take this one serious.

Either post something official here, or shut the fu** up. Fake news are only a waste of web space on this board.

And I sure have a guess who is behind this, since he named himself in the so-called "intercepted e-mail"....

- Future

P.S.: One day, you have to show me how one can "intercept" an e-mail. Would be really interesting to know...

Unofficial news can sometimes be as good as the official news...sometimes better. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Example: The sig restrictions, the bad word stuff, which eventually just crapped our fun colors on the boards. Now they're dull as SimHQ and Netwings...actually worse...dull drab gray.

Anyone put out by the stupid opening post is just mad because he/she probably read most of it before realizing it was a joke.

Ain't nuttin gonna ruin my day /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

2" of armour isn't enough! That's only about 50mm, so the NS37 might be able to damage the plane! And what protection from BRS 82 and 132? I understand _no_ american aircraft were lost to those weapons during the war, so they were not vulnerable to them.

It's clear to me from historical records I have under the floor in my house that the Mustang had at least equal, if not better, armour than the IS-3 or KingTiger heavy tanks.

Comments arising from "October patch - Unofficial News"

Do you have to be in a special mood for bad jokes? That's a joke right?

If you read "Unofficial News" in the hope that it's official are you officially an unofficial offifialiser?

Just a thought.

Well I hope they fix the Bf-109E4F. As it stands now, I can run the thing flat out for hours and the engine never over heats. (Realism settings are set for engine overheat).
