Here's one:
http://www.airwarfare.com/Sims/FB/fb_skinnersguide.htm

If you checkout this site's Paint Schemes Forum you'll see the very first sticky thread is about Tutorials (even if they did spell it wrong).

You'll realize that Photoshop is best learned by experimentation and improvisation. Trick is to remember what you did so you can draw conclusions.

If you Google: "Photoshop Tutorials" youll get about a billion returns. Here's a collection of my personal links:

I can't seem to find a Paint Schemes Forum at airwarfare.

The link I gave is probably not the best one since it appears to be dealing with bare metal skins. That's one reason why I suggested info in the sticky thread at the top of the Paint Schemes Forum. Seems like there used to be several Photoshop-oriented skinning tutorial sites, but so many have come and gone, I can't seem to find the ones I had in mind. I'll bet if VMF-451_Yankee were to post the same request over at the Paint Schemes Forum, he'd probably be deluged with links.

That's how I feel too Yankee. There are a huge number of excellent skins at IL2 Skins and I don't think I would have the patience to be a competent skinner. I use Adobe Photoshop for my photography and saving stuff for the web. I guess we will just have to experiment, unless someone else comes along and suggests another tutorial.

Ah, now I understand. Within the context of this forum, it's easy to see why I would have thought you wanted to learn how to skin aircraft with Photoshop. A Google search came with these and they look to be about photo retouching.

Search engines have greatly improved in recent times. I simply quieried:
how to touch-up photos with Photoshop
There were many more pages of links, but...well, you get the picture http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Start with layer masks, opacity and blending modes. Those three things will let you do amazing things. Here is an example, it isn€t from this sim, but you get the idea.

I did the NASA repaint as well, but that is another hobby.

Many thanks|CoB|_Spectre.

Those tutorials are just what I was looking for and who knows.....with some practice and confidence, I may try my hand at skinning after all.

Now why didn't I think of using Google!

I am beginning to get positively excited about the opportunities now.
