Has anybody seen the rocket assists working. I've taken off with the maximum bomb load, the readme says they activate automatically when the load requires them, but I haven't seem them working (as they do with the ME 321 Giant glider when its on a towed take off), and it struggles to gain altitude at times

Nice Google Video of real Arado 234-B2 test flight in link, including near the end a take off with rocket assistance! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Throttle up to max, make a track or watch from externals. Did the rockets fire this time!?<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

They do work - been playing with it in externals a fair amount the past few days.

The Arado needs the speed up, and a shallow climb out until it reaches cruise speed. Then it can gain altitude more readily.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Do these rockets give any plume of smoke - I tried it again and there looked to be a faint smoke trail (not the white smoke plume thats in the real video and also from the assist rockets on the 321 glider when its towed up by the 111 twin).

I did a small mission in the FMB, with 4 Arado 234's taking off with 1 x 1000 and 2 x 250 kg bombs to see if it looked any different. The first one took off ok, the next 2 took off then about a mile out started to lose altitude and crashed (something I experience in the 46 coop mission no 3), the 4th one managed the take off ok and didnt ditch. None of them had 'smokey' rocket assists, although just prior to them ejecting there is a drop in speed on the Arado as though it just lost some thrust.

Has anybody got a screenshot of the Arado with the rocket assists definitely working - to see how they look? Maybe there's no big smoke plume in the sim with these. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

they work. if you apply full trottle you should be able to see some greenish (yes greenish and i dont know why) smoke coming out.

its difficult to see when its mixed with dirt being pushed up<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Yes, i thought I could see something coming out - but I guess i expected the big plume as in the video of the real Ar234 take off http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Hi,

The Rauchergeraet cut in when you throttle past 80% and burn for a preset time and drop away.

You can take off on 79% throttle and thus keep the rauchergeraet (I think). I was hoping to keep them until I had attacked my target and then use them to speed away even faster than otherwise would have been the case.

Unfortunately they fall away, even if unspent, after a predetermined time.

i have noticed in the quick missions that if you quickly jump to an outside view when you first load up a flight you can see them burning and dropping off, to float down on their parachutes.

im still curious as to if they react like massive bombs if you shoot at them.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

So that's what it was. I was wondering what those two chutes were when testing the Blitz in QMB.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Thanks for the shots Hanglands - thats how they look on mine if you view at that angle to get a clear background. I want my big plumes! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/bigtears.gif

Has anyone else notice the AI piloted AR234's crash a lot as though they lose power (a mile or so after take-off, not in the QMB where they start in mid-flight)? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif
