I'm new to the forums so i might ask a well asked question.

1. what is the closest range you can fire your torpedo to a ship, same question for the deckgun. what is the minimum range that you'll need to fire, withoud getting hurt yourself.
I like to see the suffer from close range, yes obviously only possible on lonely murchants.

2. I like historical accuracy, with this game i'm at the right adress, so i ordered my copy already.
http://www.silenthunteriii.com/ss/Bis_vs_Swordfish.jpg Will that symbol that suppose to be on the front on this ship, be there, or is that removed due to political reasons? Or is is optional, that the player decides wether that symbol will or will not be displayed? I will be a player that does want that symbol there. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Thanx already !

Minimum range for a torpedo is 250-300m. Within that range the weapon is not armed and will fail to detonate.

There is no minimum range for the deck gun.

If you want historical accuracy you shouldn't expect the Bismarck to display the swastikas at all since they were painted over before the ship sailed into the atlantic. Althoug I have to say I don't know if they were already painted over in Germany or in Norway.

This IS full realism. The swastikas are in for cleaning http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

No, seriously, I will not miss them (too much). I will be happy to have it as it is!

Why did they paint over them para? Any idea, was it camo reasons or political or just for a laugh?

The swastikas were painted over for camo reasons/making identification more difficult.

Pilots often had problems identifying ships correctly, as the british Swordfish attack on the heavy cruiser Sheffield proved.

so imagen a lonely merchant would become out of fuel for some unknown reason. And you happen to be able to lay right next to her, lets say 15 yards, would shooting with the deck/aa gun be harmless to your own ship/crew?

So camo or not, are swastikas inplemented or not?

One thing is certain. If you buy the game in Germany there will be no swastikas!

yepp, thats true. Or one can put it the onther way around. If you like to sell the game in germany too, then you better not put swastikas in...

GAbber they said there would be "splash damage" if this is what you are meaning. Blowing up things near you will caus your own ship damage. If its an ammo ship or something similar prepare to sink with it http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Now I have a picture of ARK in his tiny type ll in my head.
He parks the boat next to the hull and shouts up:
"Are you an amunition ship?"
Reply comes down:
"Yes, we are carrying 6000 tons of ammo"

And ARK goes: "Hans zuerick A.K. We are not using a deck gun on this one!

I think everyone is overlooking what IL2 did to combat the "swaz." problem. They just put what looked like the German cross(not the maltese one). I would be happy with that.
