Sweet little aircraft, especially if it's all polished up. The Ryan STA is simple, and elegant at the same time. Various versions were made, Some actually served in combat (not sure if they were the STA model or not) with the Dutch East Indies AF as float planes. They flew them off flooded rice patties as the Japanese invaded Java and Sumatra and that area. Some of them ended up in Australia. If you want to see some photos of one of the Austrailian ones, try a web site called Kiwiaircraft or somesuch. Other Ryans were armed with twin 30 cal machinegunes in wing pods, and sold to SouthAmerican countries.

Testors has a nice model of the Ryan PT-22 with both wheels n floats, with Dutch markings, and you can make it over into an STA without too much difficulty.

I have a good reference at home about the Ryan series of aircraft, but cant' get at it at the moment cause I'm packed up to move.
