Life, kids, work. 2 puter rebuilds and "Pacific Fighters" has meant that I've yet to fully play this game. I'm about to put it back on my rig and need to know a few things.

1. Do I have to do all the Patches 1.1 - 1.4?
2. Do I have to do them in order?
3. Where can I find the mods to make crew management less tedious.
4. Should I just skip it and get "Seawolves"? Don't shoot I'm just askin'.
5. Any other things I NEED to do to get back in the saddle?

Thanks in advance...

Patches 1-3 are included in 1.4 patch. So no need for installing first 3. When installing SH3(I have US DVD Version), it installed Gameshadow, which has the patch and will install it for you from the "Show My Games" Section of Gameshadow.

Also a good place to start is the Patches & Mods Sticky at top of General Discussion forum. JSGME Mod enabler is highly recommended, and try to install mods one at a time(while at Port), just in case something goes wrong, Mod can be removed in just seconds.

Another good place to get mods is Uboat.Realsimulation (http://u-boot.realsimulation.com/)
you'll learn of more sites as time goes by.

As far as "Sea Wolves Stolen rip-off mod Expansion", I promised not to comment on this subject anymore, due to many heated arguments. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

Anyway, welcome back, any feel free to ask any questions you may have 24-7. Also nice place to get a good laugh from time to time with some of the Off Topic threads that pop up from time to time. you may also build good friendships here as well.

Good luck, and have fun. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/typing.gif

Just use the 1.4 patch, you'll be fine.

Download SH3 Commander, you can set the fatigue model you want to use for the crew, AND A LOT MORE: http://www.subsim.com/subsim_files/patches2005.html

In my opinion, Grew Wolves is better than Seawolves (and less controversial! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif) look here for that:

Hey, thanks folks. A lot friendlier here than at "Forgotten Battles"... at least so far. Thanks for the links I'll be loading up AND donating, soon as I get home.

Much love...

I assume that these mods, specifically SHIII Commander and Grey Wolves will work together without conflict? Sorry for the noob questions.

Worf101, no worries re the noob comment my friend.

Yes, Sh3 Commander and GW work well together. Couple of tips, although you'll see thme int he readme install files. Don't upgrade anything or change anyhting on your 1st parol using GW. Do it all after the 1st one is completed.

Secondly, don't upgrade and change torps at the end of a patrol, do it at the start of your next patrol. You can award medals and promotions at hen end of patrols tho'.

Sh3 COmmander is brilliant. There are so many tweaks you can implement, like wave height, set time compression limits (increase or decrease them) when near land - handy for getting out of some of the trickier French ports. Deck Gun reload times and all sorts.

Wow... I wasn't ready for that auto update game thingy. Not used to doing that. Just used to downloading patches from Gamespot and doing my own patching. Crossing fingers and firing her up.

Thanks...

The order of installation is important. This is the recommended order:

1. Install SH3 (fresh install)
2. Install the 1.4 patch
3. Install JSGME
4. Install the Grey Wolves mod (this can be done via JSGME if you read the installation instructions that come with GW)
5. Install SH3 Commander

All the above add-ons are designed to work well together, but I strongly advise you to read all the documentation so that you understand exactly how they change/work with the game.
