In this mission I put my F4U1C at the northern-most airfield in the area of Okinawa, it is known as Le Shima, thats what the map says anyway but, its the northern-most airfield on the map.
So anyaway, I had four Japanese KI-84s Fighters coming in at my airfield.
These KI-84s were all Aces and they had their own seperate ways about them so there were no follow- me types.
I took off and got into my intercept mission and begin to circle and climb.
I leveled off at about 2000 feet and caught them coming in from the east. (I knew they were coming from that direction because I put thier asses there) But anyway I caught the black dots at my 9 o-clock so I rolled and dove at them to build up speed. I closed-in as they did the same. Black dots getting bigger, I rolled right and then rolled all the way over and then pulled hard into a left turn and then back at them again as I squeezed off a burst of 20mm catching the tail of the last plane of the staggered formation. I saw a flash but I dont know for sure what happen to that plane. Some debri did hit my plane so I think I may have tore him up good but, I never got a scratch on that pass.
I pulled up hard and nearly blacked out, I looked up through the canopy and was blinded by the sun. I couldnt see ****. My lower lip was hanging and being stretched from the gravity, or was it the force of my 12 ounce bud light can pressing on my lip?, hell I dont know, this is just a friggin sim.
But anyway I rolled out of that sloppy immelman, pulled- up and went after anything in my way with my head on a swivel. I hit my mixture and adjusted mt pitch and caught some kentucky windage on a very unlucky KI-84 as he rolled left and pulled up hard trying to avoid me, the sun reflectling brightly from his canopy directly in front of me. I squeezed off a burst with a brief feeling of satisfaction from the flash of light. I saw my twenty milimeter rounds rip through his tail section.
But I hate to start a paragraph with the word but, but, I got torn-up myself by his wingy, whom I had never even seen, and he put some bullets into my right-side wing and he put me into a spin and I was in deep sheeeit after that. But anyway, I put down my beer cause I didnt feel like dying.
So there I was, about 3000 feet over the ocean in a spin and shot-up as hell, so I put the gear down, I watched with blurred vision as the sea water spun closer, but finally I leveled off and was able to keep my Corsiar airborne, just bearly brushing the beach as I flew inland at about 300 knots. But now I notice I have no power so that sucks because I cant go back and get some revenenge on the SOB that got me. Now all I can do is try to make a landing I can walk away from. Better luck next time.

Wow you sure like to make things hard!!

The Ki84's in your clip are the version with the 30mm cannon. I believe there were less than 50 made and they were used soley for attacking bombers.

FOr more realism, give yourself a wingman or a squad (choose a high rank when you start the mission so that your flight follows you) and make the Ki84's the a or b version, not the c http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Good clip and story http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Great story. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif Try 2 F6F against 8 "veteran" Ki-61 or Ki-100. It's a wild ride.

Well I tried goin at it in an F6F with a wingman but we were destroyed real quick. I geuss I suck as a Helcat pilot, so I got back in my F4U1c with no wingman and I went up against the same 8 KI-84as and it took me a couple of tries but I did evntually get em all.
I have a qick video of the highlites.

And this is one I made a while back that I just found and it cracked me up and it has nothing to do with dogfighting, its a BMW motorcycle that goes airborne. Merry Christmas.

That high-deflection shot was killer. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif
