View Full Version : Rudder Pedals

Is anyone using rudder pedals instead of the twisting joystick for rudder control? Are the USB CH Rudder Pedals the only ones that will work or is there a way to make my favorite old Thrustmaster Rudder Pedals work? Thanks in advance for some input on this.

There is a really nice German brand of pedals made by Hoffman I think is the name. I have the CH pro pedals and they are so much more precise than a twisty stick. It makes for much more precise landings, takeoffs, gunnery, and strafing.

Yes, you can use your TM pedals http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif. Here's
what I'm doing, I use a MS Sidewinder FF USB
and my old TM rudder pedals. Went to Radio
Shack and got a Gameport to USB adaptor and
plugged the rudder pedals into that. Now the
game sees the MS Sidewinder as device "0" and
the rudder pedals as device "1". Go into the
Controls section of PF and re-assign the rudder
to the rudder pedals. This leaves you with the "twist" function unused. I assigned it to the brakes so now I have much better control over braking than using the keypad.

Rudder pedals are better. There is a good reason as to why combat aircraft don't have twist sticks for rudder control.

Thanks for all the great replies so far! Yes, I already know pedals are a great advantage over 'twisty' sticks, so I really appreciate the input from imn2sims - my system is similar to yours and I currenty have a Logitech FF stick without the twist rudder. I'll be at Radio Shack tomorrow to try it out. Keep the input coming, I'ts all good stuff!
