This is the 15th post in a series of topics on the Revised Cockpit Reference Guide that i am working on. It will contain all planes this time blah blah blah ...
The point is that i need your tips, suggestions and corrections for the easy-to-print aircraft guide that i am working on. To get an idea of what that is you may want to download the old version (check my sig).

Lavochkin-Gorbunov-Goudkov LaGG-3 (`41-`43)
The LaGG-3 was a significant improvement over the earlier LaGG-1, but still was not liked by its pilots. However, in combat against the German BF109Es it proved to be a capable fighter, durable and resistant to combat damage. The Series 66 model had the more powerful M105PF engine, while the IT model was used as a tank destroyer (Istrebitel Tankov).
Maximum speed (Series 4/29/35/IT/66): 500/510/515/515/535km/h at sea level and
570/560/565/565/590km/h at 3800m (Series 4 at 4800m). Service Ceiling: 9500m.
Tips:
¦ The LaGG-3 performs better at low altitudes.
¦ It loses energy very quickly in continuous manoeuvres.
¦ Consider switching the Supercharger to stage 2 over 2200m. Start leaning the fuel mixture at about 3000m for Series 66 and IT <span class="ev_code_RED">[corrected]</span>and 4000m for the earlier models.
¦ It starts disintegrating at speeds over 700km/h.
Armament:
LaGG-3 Series 4: nose - 2x7.62mm ShKAS (325rpg/12sec), nose - 2x12.7mm UBS (220rpg/13sec),
engine - 1x20mm ShVAK (120rpg/9sec).
LaGG-3 Series 29,35: nose - 1x12.7mm UBS (220rpg/12sec), engine - 1x20mm ShVAK (120rpg/9sec),
engine (optional) - 1x23mm VYa (60rpg/6sec).
LaGG-3 Series 66: nose - 1x12.7mm UBS (220rpg/13sec), engine - 1x20mm ShVAK (120rpg/9sec).
LaGG-3 IT: nose - 1x12.7mm UBS (220rpg/13sec), engine - 1x37mm NS-37 (22rpg/5sec).

Bereznyak-Isayev BI-1 (`42)
The BI-1 was the first Soviet military rocket-powered aircraft. On 27 March 1943 it set an unofficial speed record at 800km/h, but it experienced the until then unknown tendency to pitch down in high-speed flight, crashed to the ground and the pilot was killed. The Soviets abandoned rocketplane testing until they captured German ones.
Maximum speed: 800km/h at sea level and 1000km/h at 7000m. Climb to 5000m in 1.1m.
Tips:
¦ The BI-1 has very limited range due to quick fuel consumption. Climb fast, target a bomber, make one or two firing passes and glide back to your base with empty tanks. Ignore enemy fighters; they are too agile to be targets.
¦ The engine is turned on/off moving the throttle to idle and opening it again.

Apart from tips and corrections this time i 'd like someone to tell me what that warning light (below the Turn and Bank indicator) is. Is it about overheating?

If you are reffering to LaGG-3 fighter, than most certainly is. I will test it in game so I can then tell for sure.

Temperature reaches max ~100-115?C (Oil). I am unable to overheat it. On LATE series I overheat it without problems, but S4 S29 S35 are unoverheatable (Oil). http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif So I can't tell for sure, but on S66 warning light is on.

This is likely a bug (however I cannot make a bold conclusion, but it sure smells like one).

LaGG-3S4 max. overheat (similar to S29 and S35)

LaGG-3S66 max. overheat (similar to NS37_IT)...................(notice the left oil temp. pointer position out of gauge)

On this picture (S66) is visible that oil temperature cannot be even measured by an instrument unlikely on S4 overheat picture.

That should be checked properly because me thinks that S4/29/35 should overheat at least as S66/IT, not less like they do in game.

I have the same feeling that something is weird with them. Also, i think that the warning light is about overheating but isn't turned on/off at the same temperatures as the "engine overheat/engine normal" message.

There is definitely *something* with LaGG 3/29 series. It's simply performing too well with VK105P 1210 hp engine and take off weight 3300 kg (in comaprison to Yak1 or Me109F for that matter)

Earlier LaGG series were known to have problems with poor construction.

Tip for the BI-1: Don't fly faster than 750kph IAS - it will tuck down beyond that speed. It's also advised to use just 50% in level flight. And try to shoot well, ammo is very little http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Umm I read somewhere, that one of bugs to be deleted in 4.02 was VK-107, that "slipped" into one of LaGG-3 series code.

Yup, was fooling around in quickmission builder and saw that over 750kph or soo the plane would get into a roll and pop me upside down.
Joystick would lose control and I pretty much had to pray the plane would get out of it by itslef and lose speed, wich it did twice in one mission.
