Are glyphs/puzzles back in the game like AC2/Brotherhood had? If not, is there anything equivalent?

How do the Desmond sequences work? What do you have to do to unlock them?

...
Waiting for my copy, preordered it from GAME and still haven't received it.

Puzzles in the form of AC2 and Brotherhood are not back. However, the Desmond parts are basically one huge puzzle all in First Person. To gain access to the Desmond sections you need to find Animus fragments throughout Ezio's world. five for the first, ten for the second, fifteen for the third, twenty for the fourth and thirty for the last.

Thanks.
In what form do you find them though?

You remember the feathers right? Well they are kinda like that except look for a sparkly diamond. And on the map it looks like a black and white diamond.
