Hello!

I blew off the right wing of this AI zero. Instead of crashing to the ground, it kept flying. It went on a very (I mean VERY) slow downward and slightly right turn.

I'm no aeronautics engineer, but this looks a bit odd.

Comments? Maybe the FM needs a little fix?

got track? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

Nope...sorry. I should have got one. But after it lost the wing, the zero stayed on the air for a very long time. It was flying like an undamaged plane (but with no pilot).

Nice observation . P47 without control surfaces were able to fly too in previous patches . Maybe AI trys to fly them as far in the crash as possible http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Some of those pilots were sumo wrestlers you know. If a sumo pilot lost a wing, he simply adjust his position in the cockpit to rebalance.

Well, sometimes, it DOES fly on a single wing!!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I have a track were an AI La-5FN keeps chasing me and tries to get angles to shoot long after I have killed his engine.

Kinda reminds me of TOAD's sig, never give up, ever! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Well if F-15 can do it...

One wing only (http://tailslide.firelight.dynip.com/f15wing.asp)

Well, that is a wing and a half!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif Cool pic, though.

Also, notice that the plane I am talking about has no pilot (he bailed out), so there shouldn't be any piloting going on. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif This zero stayed on the air by itself...

Looks like the rudder was shot off too!

I've seen AI B-17 with badly shot-up tail fly 90% sideways, 10% forward for over 10 minutes.
It even cut wide curves into attacks while flying like that.

But... AI in flyable plane is supposed to fly with same FM as player.

Anyone gets a track of that to 1C deserves a forum medal of some kind.

It's just a flesh wound.

I have see the same thingwith He111 Zwilling. I have saw off entire right airplane, and he fell like brick towards earth and crashed. But left one has flying in gentle circles towards earth untill final crash. Weird.

when i first started flying this sim i was doing a bf109 campaign & i shot the left wing off of a i16, i disengaged thinking it would spriral to its death, miniuts later the confrontation was over & i returned to my airfield, landed & started to see if any other aircraft had survived & to my amazment i saw the i16 pilotless tilted to the left with only one wing flying just above sea level http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

The visual damage is only approximately equal to the actual damage as there are only a limited number of visual damage levels available. Sometimes this can produce some rather odd looking effects. The one shown in Gato's post is more unusual than most though http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif.

In the original Sturmovik I remember seeing a plane flying with the wingtip & wingroot intact but the rest of the wing missing, now that was really odd http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif.

Wow, nice one. The closest I got to that is a successful belly-landing after losing the back-half of my Zeke.

The horizontal stabilizer, rudder, and pilot appear to be missing too.

I've seen the Oscar float along like a blimp after losing ailerons so this isn't all that "odd."

I`ve seen some graphic anomolies, but nothing as major as this-ever!

Once I smacked a tank with the rear fuselage of a Yak-9T in the original IL-2. This knocked the whole rear fuselage off. Although control was diminished I sucessfully kept flying for the rest of the mission until I decided to land when the software decided that it was time up (If [ground contact] and [lots of damage] then [crash]?). I saved the track then over-wrote by mistake. Never able to reproduce the experience!

I have a track (from about 12 months ago) of the AI B17 flying almost perpendicular to the ground after I had shot off it's vertical fin and rudder.
