Hey Oleg, Ivan og whoever may answer.

I dont mind waiting for the good times and that also apply here, but still it has now been about a month since the last update. And really the support for this game are, in lack of a better word "great", but i really dislike that we are being kept in the dark about the addon.
At the last update you said is was "comming very soon".... and a month without any kind of word about anything.

From what i can gather the problem have been so far.

*New office <> ok fair enough you need to settle in but, then let us know, insetad of just keeping us in the dark.
*Problems with Northrop <> That i dont know much about, and we should not meddle in that since we dont know half of whats going on.
*new FMs in addon <> You must have an this in mind for some time, i dont know how complicated it is to inplent them, but still.
*Beta sesters leaking info <> I saw something about this a while ago and this should not be tolerated.
*General delays <> I dont what kind you had, but i know they are always there.

And again, let us know, ohh please let us know... most of the community can handle it in an adult way, and for the rest they will always be there. The addon can come when it is finished, please not before, but i hate being keps in the dark, and the last couple of times we got some info it was a few pictures and a word that the addon would soon be here. And if you dont have the time to write it just let one of the moderators do it.

Just my 2 cents here, hope Oleg and team see it. And looking farward to the addon.

The only information we've gotten so far has been wrong.

If they overestimated the time frame by several months, maybe they could give us a better guesstimate of when the addon will get here so that we'll be surprised when it is released.

_*General delays_ <> Many things can cause delays. Oleg and crew are pulling many long hours much longer than most would know and 7 days a week.

General comments by me. I can't speak of nor will I of times, where it's at in dvelopment,or systems information. I can't so please do not ask. All I can tell you is it's being worked on,tested, and so on.

It would also be unfair of me right now to ask for the ability to comment on system specs for people, I know this is of great interest and debate right now but it can change from build to build. Until we get a final build that's going to go live to the end user I will not ask for permission to post details about it.

Hope you guys can understand that and please do not push beta testers for information.

My best time frame guess is it will be done when it's done..... now go play 3.04 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I absolutely don't care one way or the other - I've gotten my money's worth by my reckoning, anything else is just extra - but I will make an observation.

I've been lied to by businessmen; we all have. We know what lies sound like. For example, the counter girl at the corner BP station recently told me that she couldn't accept credit cards "for the next few weeks" because "the machines were broken." I wasn't surprised when, two weeks later, the BP sign was replaced by an Exxon sign and new people were in charge.

Right now, if I were to be told that there was not going to be a patch, or that Ubi dropped the series and there will be no BoB, or that Oleg had gotten out of the sim business, I would not be surprised.

My point is, although I readily accept that the patch is a freebie and that we have no right to know when or if it will be released, at some point the missed deadlines and conflicting stories will begin to have a negative impact on the credibility of the business. I suggest that we are rapidly approaching that point, and that it would be a wise business decision to let us know exactly what has and is happening.

Again, I don't care - I've seen Sierra go and Dynamix go and Microprose go and, no matter what, my life will not be affected significantly one way or the other. Just an observation and a tip for the businessmen.

Vigilanty nailed it.

The longer Oleg stalls, the more I think he's bluffing.

He should save the "007 bit" for vegas and start pimping his product... if he really believes in it.

And the thing about lying, i never said they did, i belive much in Oleg and team always have and always will... And we have never been lied to, lack os info is not lying, And Hunter said that he cant speak of it, ok fine i'll accept that.

The FM are hard to implement, then that componed with the long hours, hey these guy have a life to, will make the addon come out later, the rest just need to accept that.

And its good to see the humor from the community, lets just say 2 weeks and take it from there... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

LOL my point exactly - all of those lies that you recite are so common that they sound exactly like lies! I'm not suggesting that anyone involved with this project has deliberately lied - I'm just pointing out that these statements, taken together, appear to have the ring of falsehood.

As I said, I really don't care, but I am curious - have the misstatements we've heard been caused by something gone wrong, or are they just the result of inept PR? I haven't gotten involved in the "you lied to me!" debate and I'm not going to - I just thought that Ubi might benefit from hearing how this appears to a fairly disinterested reader. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

IMO, UBI constantly makes certain software designers look bad through their inability to communicate to the people who buy their products and therefore support their company, that's right, the customers. Oleg's been taking heat for UBI's lack of PR skills for years.

Is missing several pieces it said were included on the box and currently on the Ubisoft web page promoting the product the same as broken? Or is that considered defective? Or are we slowly moving into "not exactly as illustrated" territory? Is the box and the web page indication of what Ubi would have "liked" to give us, if there had not been such a shortage of blank cd's at the time of packaging? (or whatever the excuse was...been half a year now, can't remember...)

That was the only holdup 6 mos ago...and I'm still waiting for the game I thought I was buying when I shelled out almost a days wages.

Nope, not at all. Quite simply that one customer makes an untrue statement falsely "quoting" 1c.....Then it is repeated so often by so many is soon believed to be true by those who don't look at the initial facts but the rumor.

it still beggars belief that anyone, could be so worked up about nothing more important than a computer game, the content it does and does not have and what a complete stranger known to me only as the face of a company, did and did not say.

Poor devils! This better? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Enguarde, Billfish, et al - I really have no opinion about the alleged "deception" - that ranks right up there with flight model whining on the list of Things That Don't Interest Me. What does interest me is the way that the community has aligned itself into groups of Accusers and Shut-Uppers. Having little else to do while checking for updates lately, I've wondered whether the division and resultant rancor is the result of poor communication, or is it, instead, just the natural result of a bunch of pack-animals congregating and sorting out the pecking order?

Now that's interesting! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

When a person owes me money or has borrowed something and not returned it I find that they generally try to avoid contact with me but when they do see me they are quick to make promises and even quicker to make excuses.

It seems like Ubisoft and IC are becoming like that more and more. Sometimes the best thing to do in those situations is just admit that you will never pay back the money or that the items you borrowed were lost or you sold them or that add-on you promised 6 months ago is never really going to come. See that was easy wasn't it.

The really odd thing you would never expect in these situations would be for a third person to interject that the person who owes you money will pay you back when they are good and ready. I believe those people would be told to mind their own business.

it could be a situation where some see this is a matter that really, seriously means absolutely nothing in the long run / bigger picture, (its just a freaken GAME peoples and, all due respect to the man, i dont give a toss what mr maddox says to me, i dont know the guy from Santa http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif) and those who seem to be in the position and are of the belief that:

1. incessant complaining always gets you what you want. No results? complain some more !

2. they are genuinely owed something chronically important to them, and that is more than likely the single biggest thing they have to worry about in their life.

personally, if a computer game became so vitally important to me i genuinely felt so cheated and hurt over missing content, i'd check myself in to the Infantry, as it would be clear to me i have lost all perspective on what is truly worth worrying about in life and needed to be put on the straight and narrow.

Maybe this is more of a cultural issue because in the US most people are raised to voice their concerns/complaints as customers even over matters which are relatively trivial. Just because a person comes on this board and mentions some frustration or a lack of ideal service from the game maker/producer doesn't mean the matter holds that much relative importance in his life as a whole.

What I find odd are the people who take the side of IC or ubisoft without working for the company or even being asked to say something on their behalf. Imagine a Nike or Toyota loyalist. The self-elected ubisoft apologist is far more potentially pathetic and far more potentially indicative of an obsession (like a groupie to a rock band) turned to blind loyalty than the person who voices a legitimate lack of satisfaction with customer service.

Personally I think a fair assessment of the situation is that ubisoft and IC are not delivering like they have in the past. There is a definite feeling of decline and the changing winds of the PC gaming industry losing ground to console gaming.

Regardless, I would personally never condescend to tell a fellow customer or fan of the series what to think or say and it seems like a lot of rabid fanboys and fangirls on this board can't stand dissent or an opinion contrary to their ideal picture of IC and ubisoft.

I don't know where in Canada you live, but here in Ontario, and throiughout most of the planet, I assume...once you open it, you don't get your money back from the retailer. Remeber back in the bad old days when every box was opened, because someone had took it home, burned it...and returned it? Now you gotta get it from the manufacturer. Ubi Montreal says I had 30 days to return it to them for credit, not including the 10-12 more dollars I would have to spend shipping it back at my cost. I believed Maddox's past track record and listened to a whole ton of funboys (where have they all gone?), and a note included on the CD that it would be very quickly rectified right after the release, and that Maddox was akin to a god of some sort. So now I cannot return it. Found that out today. So now I am a little more than upset. I am stuck with a WIP...

6 mos later I am still waiting for a complete box, and they are still marketing it as such...

I agree with RiesenShnauzer...one of the things that has always bugged me about the internet is that normally reasonable people with regular everyday concerns have those concerns magnified with an attached magnified reaction.

The truth is that most of us, if we were to meet in person, and say the same things we say on the forum we would be sharing a beer by the end of the day, disagreements and all.

I don't feel a general feeling of decline, but for old sim-freaks like me, you can't help but worry about the companies in this industry...we watched Dynamix, Microprose, EA and Microsoft games pick up, abandon, and fall apart over flight sims, Il-2 has matched and exceeded all of the outputs by these companies but I can't help but wait for the other shoe to drop. (and considering what I just said earlier my 'worry' doesn't mean I lose sleep and drink excessively it means just that, a little concern about an inconsequential game I happen to enjoy)

it could be a situation where some see this is a matter that really, seriously means _absolutely nothing_ in the long run / bigger picture, (its just a freaken GAME peoples and, all due respect to the man, i dont give a toss what mr maddox says to me, i dont know the guy from Santa http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif) and those who seem to be in the position and are of the belief that:

1. incessant complaining always gets you what you want. No results? complain some more !

2. they are genuinely owed something chronically important to them, and that is more than likely the single biggest thing they have to worry about in their life.

personally, if a computer game became so vitally important to me i genuinely felt so cheated and hurt over missing content, i'd check myself in to the Infantry, as it would be clear to me i have lost all perspective on what is truly worth worrying about in life and needed to be put on the straight and narrow.

EnGaurde...

I respect you based on your intelligent comments and your contributions to this forum should garner a paycheque from someone somewhere.

I'll excuse that post as a bit of a brain fart. Do you REALLY think I sit around all day burning about this one and only issue? I will tell you what really happens. I come on here maybe once every 2-3 days and am once again pissed to find there's no patch and no reasons and no date. Once I make my post I move on...

But thank you for your concern for my stress levels, it is appreciated.

My 2 cents worth - as a IT project manager (and this applies to all projects) I think the communication from Oleg has been poor. Updates are better than silence, or better yet, don't mention dates if you can't deliver on time (and lets face it, there's always some kind of over run, and that means you tell the customer what is going on).

I just want to know what the latest update is, just something from the man to say "we are this % complete, we expect a delivery date of xx. I don't feel this is too much to ask.

Couldn't have been more concise myself! However, it would be nice to get some kind of update on progress, even if it isn't terribly informative. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

IMO, When U go "Rethinking" a portion of the sim's programming as great as the FM we now have is concerned, you would have your work cut out for you as a developer team. After all, the FM has allready been tweaked numerous times, but to attempt to code the next generation FM (BOB) in todays IL2 Game Engine, will no doubt take time and testing, if we are to recieve a quality rendering. So please, just enjoy what you have for now, and let the team do its work. Thank you Oleg! Your continued support of the sim is much appreciated by myself and many others like me, and I know you are smart enough to be able to read through these different topics on the various forums and "weed out the whinners from the genuine simulator enthusiast". Please, just overlook all idiots out there, and the rest of us that critique your work, just consider us as desiring to help you to not overlook something or other that we believe relevent to the work. Thank's again! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
