Why do Russian fighters use odd number designations primarily? (Yak 1,3,7,9; Mig-3,15,17,21,23,25; La-5, Lagg-7 etc)

Odd numbers in the Russian designation system refer to fighters, while even numbers refer to bomber or attack aircraft. There are exceptions of course.

Like I said, there are exceptions. The Su-34 used to give us fits, as its designation seemed to change with the phases of the moon... Su-27IB, Su-32, Su-34...

hehe yes

be easier just use same system russian tank use ie

T-62A = origanl type acept for service 1962 first model A

T-62M(1985) = orignal type acept for service 1962 model type M enter serivce 1985

aircraft name alway seem random get problem also manufacture prototype which should ie s-37 is no su-37

though think russia have bad america worse

M1 = tank ,rifle ,helmet???
m60 = tank , light machine gun?

>_<
