Seriously!

I bought the game when Ubisoft started selling the game at 29.99 or 19.99$ (don't remember).

You know, I never really understood the tutorial about this particular move before this afternoon... Lol... And to say I also discovered that we could use the hidden blade for counter attack only a month ago!

I truly hope things will be clearer in AC2. Well, I guess it will, since Patrick said the player will learn to be an assassin like Ezio.

i always had a hard time with the combo kill...almost happened by sheer luck....much rather use the counter kill w/ the short blade....much more fun

combo killing is much faster than counter killing. It took me a while to figure it out too but now I use alle the time. And combo kill are just as much fun as counterkills there's one combo kill with the long sword thats awesome

I still need a lot of practice in order to get the timing right.

Does anyone have tips about combo kills? They say we have to push the button once again as soon as we connect and it doesn't seem to be a very forgivable system... :/

You have to do it when the enemy isn't in a defensive stance, you can't do it when they deflect or block your attack. And you can only combo-kill with the short blade & the sword. It's easier with the short blade, the sword is better for counters.

I found the things to be clear enough, i even use combo kill more than counter and when i counter its almost always with the hidden blade xD

I find the sword to be easier to do it with but maybe it's just cause I have the timing down right.

Combokills can be practiced in the courtyard of Masayaf. Simply follow a normal attack with a second attack when you connect with your target. In Masayaf you'll punch your opponent in the face, cause that's what happens if you can't kill your target. (either because you're just training or because the enemy is too strong to kill with 1 blow) You've probably seen the enemy do it already. It'll only work when you connect with your target, so it won't work when they parry the attack, but it WILL when they block!
I hope you'll master this skill soon, cause once you get the hang of it... oh boy http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

I meant you can only do a combo kill when your blade hits your opponent's blade, you can't do it if they deflect your attack (the blade slides off the other). Or when you make contact with their flesh, either way. You can also dodge defense-break attacks.

I think you can combo kill when you make contact with their body. I don't have video proof or anything, but Im 99% certain that I've done it before.

Lol... It's hard to choose to escape when you know you just can totally beat the crap out of those guards... (and return to anonymity in 10 seconds instead of 30)

It is also hard to resist to the temptation to beat the crap out of those guys just for fun!

I love the combokills. I can't remember whether I had that much trouble with it when i started, but its almost automatic now. But it is one of the first combat moves you learn (as the combat trainer talks to you "my trainees do not know how to handle a blade..." or something like that, then it tells you about how to do it). Then again, I've ignored most of those tutorials and hardly use dodge or defence break (which oddly doesn't work sometimes, he just attacks like normal)

I learned everything quickly and perfectly It is nice being the greatest at everything I try out in Assassin's Creed...

It's if your sword impacts, whether it's the opponent's sword or body doesn't matter. It's all about timing.

I tend to try and press the button right BEFORE I hear the weapons clash. If you're hitting it in the same instant the weapons (or weapon and body) are impacting it should work. I find the timing easier on longsword, but can pull it off better than 50/50 with the short blade too.

Also good advice - When the opponent's on the defensive, guard break (Attack while stepping in - leg button then attack before the animation finishes), then followup into the combo kill. Be ready to switch tactics to a counter if they dodge the guard-break though, they usually try to attack straight away when they dodge anything more impressive than a normal attack.

I on the other hand, beat the game two times before realizing that you could use the hidden blade for counters. I never really figured you could, or even attempted to until I read it somewhere. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

"I just discovered the combo kill in AC1... :|"

The game has been out for 2 years. You never saw any video of one being done?

*Sigh* This whole thread is completely worthless http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif .

C'est quoi le ***** de problème?!-What's the problem?! For once, there's a thread about something all of us played, about something else than "demo", "multiplayer", "online", etc., yet you find a way to criticize. Vous savez pas ce que vous voulez, ***EDIT*** -You don't know what you want!

No I haven't seen any movie because I try to maintain some kind of life sometime.

Both of you just need to relax.

This thread isn't entirely pointless. It's discussing part of the gameplay in the game. Sure, it's probably been discussed before. However, there are some people that are still new to the game and others that have just returned to it. Part of the reason people didn't enjoy the game at first they didn't take the time to explore it. That means it's likely that they wouldn't spend time experimenting with the combo kills. Also, in some of those videos you are talking about it is likely that the combo kills just looked like another counter to somebody who wasn't paying close attention. So no, this thread isn't useless.

And, just because some have watched a lot of Assassin's creed videos, doesn't mean that we don't maintain our own lives.

Well don't, if the English version of that word is blocked by the forum word filter, using French or any other language is viewed as an attempt to bypass the filter, which is against forum rules. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

Currently replaying AC1, and forcing myself to use only the Hidden Blade in combat, adds a whole new dimension to the game, not to mention a LOT less forgiving for bad timing... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif
