Well, since I can't play 4.03 at the moment, I'm enjoying my Luftwaffe campaign. I recently transferred from the Stalingrad front where I flew 109G-2s, and I'm in a FW-190A-4 now, on the Kuban front, and loving it.

Having a lot of fun with the Anton, I have shot down 8 Il2s on one flight and 6 on another. When i shot down the 6 Il-2Ms, that was the entire VVS attack force. I imagine that Commissars have to 'encourage' Il-2 pilots to take off in JG 3's sector right about now

A Leutnant named Kass was injured weeks ago, and he returned from hospital for my last mission. He was injured crashing into a friendly plane in a dogfight

Well I've been a Major for a while, and after 86 victories, I'm wondering how long a Knight's Cross and/or my promotion to Oberstleutnant will take, and this clown rejoins the squadron

His first mission back- I'm lined up for a shot, on the LAGG that just shot down HIS wingman, which I had been tailing for the last five minutes, when he flies right in front of my guns, at the instant I fire, and shoots down the LAGG I am firing on

I will admit I didn't even think of taking my finger off the trigger. Stupid bugger, I nailed him, and I hope he roasted the whole way down

He gets killed of course. Kass is dead, from my guns. My commander mentions it's not a day to write home about

The Justice?

I get promoted to Oberstleutnant immediately after 'accidentally' shooting down this guy. In my imagination, I skipped his funeral to accept my promotion and congratulations on the two kills I got before giving Kass the dirt nap, which brings my total to 88. Serves him right. Here's hoping the friendly AI gets a bit smarter in 4.03 http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

You Northerners truely are cold-blooded. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

You should have at least gone to his funeral so you could pi$$ on his grave and warm him up a bit on his trip to the great beyond. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

Hey all,

Great story, something strange happened to me on one campaign. Was Northern Sector fighter campaign, I was with II/JG54, I/JG54 had just received its Fw-190A4s, while we were stuck with the good ol' 109F4s.

Mission was supposed to be a fighter sweep, but immediatly on the ramp, there were inbounds. I was #6 in line of 16(8 109s of II Gruppe, 8 190s from I Gruppe). Previously, I had been killed in a similar situation, so wanting to avoid that happening again, I jumped onto the taxiway and roared into the air, where I quickly got on the tail of a Yak-1 and, right over the airfield, shot it down. This is where it gets interesting, the flaming wreck crashed into the 6th 190 in line, blowing him up and severely damaging the 7th, and preventing #8 from taking off. From this point on, it seemed like the 190s were out to get me.

First off, as soon as their remaining 5 aircraft were up, they barreled over my head in close formation at high speed, scaring the pants off of me. Throughout the entire mission, I had to duck huge volleys of fire from the 190s, who always seemed to be edging in on me. But, the worst part, while returning to base after downing two Hurricanes to bring my total to three kills for the mission, I spotted a lone I-153 being fired upon by our AAA. I slid in close and unnoticed, and just as I pulled the trigger, the air around me exploded with cannon and MG fire, my 109 was hit a couple times(fortunately right over my base), and I was forced to run for the deck. My two attackers? The same 190s who'd been harrassing me from the start. I ended up bellying in off the edge of the runway, right next to the burning wrecks the remaining I Gruppe 190s.

It was pretty odd. That campaign ended for me with ~25 missions and ~22 kills, when my comp locked up and after that I couldn't reload the campaign. Started a new one just today, and I just knocked down 2 LaGGs for my "first" kills http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Love this game..

I love the DGen system - it has limitations but it's still very immersive...

The worst thing about the DGen is, when you've just finished a really successful mission, the dilemma - attempt to record the track (and risk the sim crashing), or just accept the mission? FB/PF is very, very stable for me, but sometimes it crashes when I try to save a track, specifically in the Gulf of Finland map in DGen missions.
