Hi, I am new to the forums, although I've been enjoying SH3 for awhile now.

I have a problem with 1.4b CTD in the crew assignment/management screen almost every mission now (a bit buggering). I find myself going out on patrols, sinking a ship and then sometime after, when I'm assigning crew members, the game will crash to desktop.

It usually happens when I click on one of the preset modes for crew assignment, like "Surface Cruise" or the "Surface Attack" mode buttons.

Very frustrating. I've been out on about 4 differen patrols starting a few new campaigns each time, and it will crash out. Once during the second patrol in 1939, and now three times in the row in the 1940 campaign - patrol 1.

I can't be the only one suffering this?

To add:

Previously, I have been using version 1.2 and I did not experience any of these specific CTDs that I am now. I skipped 1.3 because of all the outstanding issues and was delighted to see 1.4b in the news http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.

Btw, I have an ATI Radeon 9600 and I am using the latest catalyst 5.6 drivers (it also crashed out with the ATI catalyst 5.5)

Stay away from the crew preset buttons. Lots of people have had problems with them.

I confirm this happens as well, I tried it as a test, and POW! CTD...

It does seem that its pretty much solely related to those preset buttons. After doing all management manually I was able to complete a mission without problems. Guess I'll have to stick with that for now.

Thanks for your responses.

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif This has been a problem for me throughout all versions. But it isn't neccessary to be terrified of the buttons ALL the time. Stay away from them right after surfacing or diving. I've suggested previously that the code engine and the system resources are under max stress at times like this. At other times the buttons don't seem to present a problem at all. BUT... ultimately... Save early and save often. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I have also experienced this problem in patch 1.4b. The main thing is to avoid hitting more than one preset button after the other (in succession).
