So, I've not played FB/PF but maybe twice this year. With the 4.01 patch, I feel like a complete noob again. It has a completely different feel to it and it's bloody hard! Gunnery is extremely difficult and flying has never felt so real. I never thought it could be this, well, immersive. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

This is a good thing. With the update, it's like a whole new game to learn again and I think I may be able to get back into groove of playing PF everyday just so I can master it once again. After playing for 3+ years straight, and then quitting for 6 months, it seems like I've just bought a new game. This is the best thing to happen to this series, IMO. Without this change, I may never have gotten back into simming until BOB.

Thanks Oleg. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

I am not surprised. It seems harder at first but I think you'll find your confidence improving very well because the flight characteristics are more realistic. You may become a better pilot than at any time in the past, tho the AI will be more challenging.

I took my favourite Spit mk IXe clipped wing for a spin against a couple of ME109ers.
You're right, this is a completely new (ball)game!
And you know what?
I like it http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Remember to lock your tail wheel on takeoff and landing. Never used to make that big of a difference so I never did it. Sure helps calm "the swing" down now though!!! I locked every time religously now!!!

I can use the up-movement of the right-hand switch of the CHPro yoke for tailwheel lock - downwards is for airbrake, left switch for flaps. All the main controls are easily accessible on the CHPro yoke!

some time ago some one posted about a ww2 vet flying il2 and posted his joy settings... I've been using them ever since... the right hand number in each of the three never goes above 75..
don't find it that much harder with 4.0 new FM

I do disagree that lining up shots is necessarily any harder with the new FM. It depends on the airplane!! I find some planes, such as Yaks, to be super sensitive to thottle opening due to torque. But planes suchs a 109s, I find lining up shots and getting hits just as easy as it was before. Only the take off and
landing is harder for me in the 109 series. At least for me anyway. P-51s seemed to to be harder to get sights on an enemy though. Lots of slop and sway and gyrations in general.

But it does seem to be different from one plane to the next as far as shot difficulty. Sometimes I feel like I'm flying a new sim, sometimes I feel like I'm flying 3.04m, according to aircraft I happen to be flying at the time.
