It's nice to have a friend who's ranked in the top twenty Counter-Strike players in the world, they get all sorts of free stuff. He's a giving me a surplus 9800 All In Wonder Pro, and I was curious about the best drivers for it and Il2/PF, ty in advance.

I have a 98Pro and just upgraded from 5.1s to 5.5s and they work good for me too... probably the best.

I agree with the other guys. Get the ATI Catalyst 5.5
Just be sure to delete your old driver as they recommend. They have good directions on how to do it (if u need em).

Top 20 counterstrike players, That game is terrible, he needs to switch to ravenshield by tom clancy, incredible graphics and real gun sounds that are recorded from the real thing, that change would be like flying aces high(lol) to joining IL-2 NOW THATS PROGRESS. But hey you benefit from it right so thats good.

Catalyst 5.5.

The entire 5.X series have worked great for me - no graphics glitches at all - but with the 5.5's I picked up about 1.5 average FPS on my Kamikaze track benchmark test which is a nice bonus.

Others in a separate thread on the 5.5's have reported well-documented 4 and 5 average FPS gains on their systems which is quite awesome - tanatamount to a hardware upgrade.

I've stayed with my 4.10s for some while now, being reluctant to change up to the 5xx series without proof they'd be better, cause no glitches etc. - seem to recall some folk experienced disappearing or corrupted textures at one stage.
Presumably everyone thinks they are an improvement over the 4.xx series but can you be more specific regarding quality of image. Are the colours brighter/better/more natural etc - what are the visual improvements to your eyes?
Any feedback appreciated.

With no corruption that I know of a good incentive to upgrade is the possibility of increased fps, I haven't made any tests to confirm it but you can't discount others' testimony. Its always very subjective for me but the 5.5s seem to be a bit richer in color and texture. I had used the 4.10s for a while and I think you'll notice some difference.
