does anyone know if it will make it! I've sinned and started flying it in CFS2 just so I can be at the controls.

No chance at all in the first patch. The second patch/addon is questionable. As far as I know, the cockpit has bairly been started. An AI only version may find its way into the second patch, but no sooner.

As we all know, the Soviet Union had too many fighter pilots during WW2. So Stalin's scientists came up with a brillient way to solve this problem. They would make some of their pilots fly British made Hurricanes. The Hurricane was an uber flying coffin. It was designed to maximize pilot kills by providing nothing but fabric and a few wooden spars around the cockpit. This setup prevented the pilot from escaping easily while at the same time not interfering with enemy bullets and shrapnel trying to pass through it. The rest of the Hurricanes structure was designed to ricochet bullets and shrapnel into the cockpit. And thanks to the cockpits superb design, all of them would pass through the cockpit and the pilot inside with little difficulty. Of course the Hurricane's designers didn't stop there. In order for the Hurricane to become a flying coffin, they had to make it easy to shoot. They did this by making the Hurricane the slowest monoplane fighter in use at the time and even gave it a very bulky shape so that it would be easy to spot and hit. The final feature of the Hurricane was its ability to bury or cremate itself. And because it was made of biodegradable materials, the Hurricane was environmentally friendly after it buried itself. Because of these brillient features, the Hurricane was a perfect flying coffin and helped the Soviets solve the pilot surplus they were suffering.

Actually, the cockpit is pretty far along. Last one I saw in IL2Center looked about 80% and Jeronimo is finishing it (so says Gib). But I am not a modeler so that's just a n00b assessment. I'm just happy it will happen.

Hmm, I hadn't seen any pics of it. Still, the patch is in final testing, the P-38 wouldn't make it even if it was finished a month ago. It does have a chance of making the second patch or addon (which ever it happens to be) if they get it done quick.

No change unless Oleg wants to delay the patch for another 2 months http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif I still have about a month of painting left, then Oleg's team needs 1 month to program it in.

If oleg waits another 2 months for you to finish it so he can stick in the first patch, then I'm going to hunt you down and kill you/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif .

Hehe, I wish the P-40 was flyable too. Right now all it does is overheat and blow up/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif .

Hi Gibb I'm new her and want to thank you for your hard work, and ask if any plans for a recon plane mite be in order maybe Fw-189A-2 or Fi-156 would like to try my hand at some recon missions, maybe someday we could screen grab a shot looking threw a cam and have it come up with our in-flight map on mission to target! Thx again

Gibbage, even if you fly the P-40 after the patch, everyone wil still laugh at you. I'm sorry to be the one to tell you, but it has nothing to do with the P-40. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

Just kidding, great work on the lightning. I know I asked this before regarding the Go-229, but what type of ordinance load can we expect with P-38? I know it may be too early to tell, so just tell me if it is. 2 other questions if you don't mind. How many P-38J/L's were used in Europe compared to Pacific (I don't need exact numbers, just aa general statement), and were there any differences between lightnings in Pacific and Europe? Thanks for answering if you get the time.

And I'm sure the P-40 will be improved, can't wait to fly that baby. I'm still dreaming of Italy/Africa missions with P-40's, Spitfire V's, and Hurricanes battling 110's, 109's, and Macchi-202's decked out in desert camo.

Keep up the great work.

I am thinking of a few loadouts. Its all up to Oleg anyways. I gave Oleg a lot of loadout options for the PBY, but he only did 500 pounders. Here is what I would LIKE to see

2x 150gal drop tanks
10 HVAR Rockets (X-mas tree)
2x 1000LB bombs
2x 500LB Bombs
Rocket tubes like on the P-47 on the center gondola
2x 50 cal gunpods with 2 .50 cals each. Total of 4 .50 cal guns on the wings. Add to that 4 .50 cal in the nose, and the 20MM gun. The pain giver!!!

Mind you this is not all at once. The bombs go in the center two hard points. Rockets and gun pods outer. Drop tanks would remove the ability to carry bombs.

Typical loadout would be 2x 1000LB bombs and 20 HVAR Rockets. Once the bombs and rockets are away, it will make a good damn fighter. Also it would make it a deadlier ground pounder then the P-47. With the gunpods, it will have more firepower then most aircraft in the game. Quite a bit more then the P-47 with its tight bunching and 20MM.

They had other "field mod" loadouts. Including 6x 250lb bombs. 4x 500lb bombs. 2x 2000lb torps. Even up to 8x 500lb bombs with special rigs (I have photo's). A B-17 typically carried 8x 500lb bombs.

Thanx for the response. Sounds awesome, the rockets are a must. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif My best friend is going to crap himself when this becomes flyable, I doubt he will ever leave. He's a true P-38 maniac.
