I got a new camera (Nikon D40 DSLR) and was trying it out. Here are some pics of the local airfield. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Looks cool, but I have no idea what this aircraft is...

This airplane was taking off and he was towing a glider. I took a second shot but the glider was covered by a bunch of airplanes so I didn't bother posting it.

Great pics as always Christian. You shojld have played more civilian FS though. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif I am pretty sure the red biplane is a Pitts Special, the pic number 9 in front of the hangar with the sign "Service Muhldorf" is a Mooney Bravo I think, the Cessna looks like a 150 and the chopper is a Bell.

Thanks Joaep and thanks for the plane names! I thought the red plane looked oddly similar to an I-153! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Thanks. I'll post some of it later. It's not mine though, it belongs to my dad. It's his baby but I get to drive it - as long as I don't abuse those 326-horses under the hood. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

OK

I don't do gliders or plastic planes much. but
1st shot after the glider the bunch of aircraft

In the background the two centre ones are a Piper Tomahawk and a Diamond DA20 Katana..

Next as said is a Pitts Special.

Looks cool, but I have no idea what this aircraft is...
Is a Diamaond DA20 Katana...... Plastic Pig with a God awful Rotax Engine..

Below that as mentioned is another stain on the world..... A Robin as already identified.

Again down from that is a Mooney as mentioned... really nice aircraft and well designed

3 pics below that are Cessna 172 shots

The one with the girl in the cockpit behind it from left to right are a Cessna 172 A Cessna 182 and just behand that a Socata Tobago or Trinidad.. forget which, but I do not work on them day in day out......

The Helicopter is a Jetranger as said http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

D-MREW is a Fascination D4 or D4B. I'm not sure which. My German isn't very good, so maybe somebody else can translate the rest of the website, but here's a picture from what appears to be the official website for the aeroplane or its pilot's association:

http://www.fascination-pilots.de/galerie/images/zoom/mogas_274814.jpg

From what I can tell it's a Light Sport Aircraft aimed at JAR rules and it seems to have rather exciting performance. There are some performance charts in the photos section of the site...

Anyway, the answer was really staring us all in the face since the word "Fascination" is actually visible on the aircraft in one of the shots.

Yes, too much time on my hands. I know the drill...

Coat - Check

Great pictures! Thanks for sharing them with us!

Your new camera seems to be taking some excellent pictures...I'm not sure how many you snapped but the quality looks excellent. I almost bought a DSLR and the Nikons were certainly well recommended. I ended up not splurging that much and ended up buying a Canon G7 which is an excellent top of the line point and shoot with almost DSRL abilities. I do have to say that your pictures are still far better than what I can do. Very nice!

There was some sort of gliding event going on. I saw about 4 gliders total on the airfield and lots of smaller aircraft towing them. I didn't stick around to find out though since I wanted to test my new camera. In the next few days, when the weather is better, I'll go back again to get some better, more detailed shots. Lots of stuff always happens here on the weekends. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I shot these pictures in the lowest picture size format: 1504 x 1000 at NORMAL quality. The trick to getting them looking HQ is to resize them and then lightly sharpen them. Works all the time. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I have to say though that the picture quality, even in normal mode is spectacular. The Nikon D40 I use is an excellent camera, especially since you get to set it to the lighting conditions, shutter speed etc. Just what I need! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Oh, I used to suck at taking pictures and I think I still do (I participate in photo competitions on Carspin and GermanCarZone and I have won very few rounds!) and there are guys out there with a bit more creativity etc. I always try to new angles and new subjects and that's the key to improving personal skills and creativity and of course hanging out on the photography forums etc. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I'm old enough to be your sisters father, so need to bother about that. At my age you can look but only dream. But the one plane with the caption "no idea" ( Just above the Cessna ) is a Mooney, looks like a Bravo model about 10 to 15 years old. I always wanted to fly a Mooney, they are performers!! Fastest plane I ever flew was a Beech Bonanza, almost as good.

Fastest I flew was an RAF Jaguar T2 Fighter, but that had significantly less performance than the Bonanza http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

And you think I jest http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/partyhat.gif

FORGOT TO ADD cawimmer430

The yellow aircraft the girl is getting into is an Extra 300

Also on the one with 4 aircraft in the background looking again at it again, the first in the distance is possibly a Piper Arrow (retractable) or a Piper warrior or cherokee (fixed Gear, did it have a T Tail? but it's hard to see... second is as said a Piper Tomohawk,... third is as said the Diamond Katana and the nearest in the row is a Robin 3000, which is a T tailed version of the other Robin shown.....

I don't think it had a T-Tail. That's a feature I would remember but I think this aircraft had a standard tail configuration.

I love taking pictures, that's true. Also, my sister wanted some good shots of herself in a nice setting so I thought I'd test my new camera for that.

Here's another shot of the two airplanes from a different day when I was able to testdrive a '07 Mercedes-Benz E230 "Classic". Testdriving Mercedes'Benz cars is another one of my obsessions! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
