Ok, I bought the "ulitmate flight collection" set at best buy, that has pacific fighters, il2, and lock on... i really wanted pacifici fighters and il2 since i hear they are really good.

Now my question is, what patches do i need to be up to date? and if you guys could suggest some must have downloads for these games lemme know thanks!

Well good news and bad news........

First off the bad news, the CD you purchased is a slim sampling of this simulation and other products offered by <b style="color:black;background-color:#a0ffff">Ubi[/b] SOft......What you got is the original IL2 which became obsolete March 2003, but there are numerous patches for on this website........LockOn which is their jet simulation and you'll have to find their associated site for any patches to it......and finally what applies to here now, Pacific Fighters.

Pacific Fighters does have some patches available, those being;
pf_v303.exe (100 Mb; goes over v3.0)
pf_v401.exe
pf_v402.exe
pf_403.exe
pf_patch404.exe (20.5MB)

& can be found here http://patches.<b style="color:black;background-color:#a0ffff">ubi[/b].com/pacific_fighters/ (http://patches.ubi.com/pacific_fighters/) being VERY careful to NOT select those with an "m" after the number........You'll get new planes, and all sorts of goodies.....

However, the series if you want it all must include the following:
IL2 Forgotten Battles
IL2 Ace Expansion Pack
Pacific Fighters
PE2 Peshka
& all the applicable patches......

Yet it will give you a nice start, and a bit of nostalgia with the old IL2 many still love, and let you fly jets, so welcome to the sim.....Yet for the most part you'll not find many who fly just PF online, most what is listed above......

The Good News:

2 new patches, really add ons are due out in november.....Now folks have 2 options. 1. Download the add ons for a price and be updated to the latest.........OR.........Buy the DVD which gives you the two add ons PLUS all i listed above for the SAME PRICE and even more!

So think of it as a nice warm up, plus a jet sim, plus a kewl older sim........and instead of having to buy PE2, Manchuria, & 46 to upgrade when out, you can get all you missed & the new addons for the exact same price!

Now that in my less then humble opinion is a great way to turn bad news into good http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

All I can add is do you have flight controls?-if not, you'll need them.I know this sounds 'overly-basic',but many people think they can fly with mouse/keyboard only;it may be possible, but, good luck.

Good luck, have fun,and welcome to the community. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

The original IL2 game (if that's what you've got) is fine to start with. It has great action and is heaps fun. Lots of us still play it, and it will be less demanding on your system. Here are the patches:

http://www.3dgamers.com/games/il2sturmovik/downloads/

Can somebody help him with the patching order? Those patch numbers are a bit confusing.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

IL-2 Sturmovik -- see if these links still work:

If you only have IL-2 Sturmovik, then you need (http://www.il2sturmovik.com/games_elts/updates.php):
- il2upgrade_1.1a.exe (ftp://ftp.ubisoft.com/games/il2sturmovik/patches/il2upgrade_1.1a.exe)
- il2upgrade_1.2.exe (ftp://ftp.ubisoft.com/games/il2sturmovik/patches/il2upgrade_1.2.exe)
- il2upgrade_1.2ov.exe (ftp://ftp.ubisoft.com/games/il2sturmovik/patches/il2upgrade_1.2ov.exe) (optional)

The developer's support for IL-2 Sturmovik ended in early 2003 when Forgotten Battles was released. FB was basically an overhaul of the IL-2 code to include new maps and aircraft, and to have better graphics. At the time of FB's release, the developer of the series declared IL-2 Sturmovik as the new demo for the series.

Use LEBillfish's links and advice for Pacific Fighters patches. And after you 'taste' PF and IL-2, consider saving your pennies for the upcoming complete DVD that has two as-yet unreleased expansions plus Forgotten Battles, Ace Expansion Pack, Pe-2, and all the free PF patch bonus content that was offered only to players with series 'merged' (ie, FB+AEP+PF as one install).<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

It is asking in case you already have IL2ForgottenBattles and Ace Expansion Pack installed.......PF being stand alone needed 2 disks on its own.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

You definately do not have the complete set.

"Forgotten Battles" = 2 CDs.
"Ace Expansion" = 1 CD.
"Pacific Fighters = 2 CDs.

Your version of IL-2 Sturmovik can never, ever, ever be merged to Pacific Fighters.

Enjoy what you've got, but be advised that you're missing out on the best looking maps of the series ...<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

So, there is actually no evidence that Monty was a brown hatter? On that basis, I could "just claim" that Patton was a turd burglar, also. And, if it is suggested that this couldn't be the case because he was married....so was Elton John.

On a more serious note, I'm sure it always helps to have a bit of controversy surrounding selling your book. Good for the sales, old boy.

Well, Monty always had that particular way of speaking that always tends to raise multicolored flags in alarm.

I think he was, indeed, a closeted homosexual.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

But another household work, the highly propagandized Me 109G, was obsolete when it was built and was aerodynamically the most inefficient fighter of its time. It was a hopeless collection of lumps, bumps, stiff controls, and placed its pilot in a cramped, squarish cockpit with poor visibility.

Of course there is nothing wrong with it. There wasn't anything wrong with it back then, either, except that it was (unfortunately) socially unacceptable (and illegal).

Which is a shame because brilliant people like Alan Turing might still be alive today if not for prejudice.

Gay agenda -- everyone famous was a fruitbar.

Geez, Montgomery had to send how many young men out to die?
It just MIGHT have raised his sense of compassion and the worth of human life.
But to some queer as he|| writer there is of course only one real answer.

The guy has 100 letters from Montgomery but he doesn't quote any part of even one
despite his trying to push a point. AFAIC that means he has nothing to back his
claims. Maybe he just wishes that things had gone through the back door but that's
him with the over the line ideas.

Please discuss. What is it about the gay community that they feel the need to go back in time and try and find some inclination that famous people were gay?

Are gays that insecure abot themselves and thier cause that they feel the need to attack the dead? The dead who can not defend themselves?

First it was Ben Franklin, than Lincoln, now Monty?

It is like they don't even belive the line they are selling, thus they have to try and make themselves look creditable by adding famous people to thier ranks.. Even if they are dead people! Guess that is the tac they have to take when most of the living wont.. but does that give them the right to go find a dead guy and twist his words?

Long story short, if you choose to be gay, or think you were born that way.. I DON'T CARE! Knock yourselves out.. I say live and let live! All I ask is that you STOP asking the rest of us to accept your life style as NORMAL! We don't think it is and we never will! SAVVY?<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

everyone is gay....its just a matter of degree.

x,y chromasomes are in everyone - even Tagert.

This allows otherwise straight men to admire ballplayers etc. to the point of looking or sounding quite gay.

..its why girls gone wild features so much of that girl/girl activity that straight guys seem not to mind atall... probably not even Tagert.

hey - gay's ok if its girls right?

its not all in your mind - its in your DNA - its hard coded and pretty well unalterable (atleast until we unlock and can alter genetic code in humans) so to think that one can just stop being gay - or resist those feelings is rediculous.

News Flash : Gay people are now and have always been around.
The only thing that needs to change IMO is the overt flaunting and "Pride" in something so personal, I mean I don't want to hear about someones personal sexlife adnauseum whether its gay or straight. keep it to yourself fer F-sake.

Patton - Monty and others might have been gay...so what - it doesn't change the fact that they were both good commanders so whats the point?

JFK's personal life seems to have been somewhat wild in the hetero direction but he was an outstanding leader. Ask Cuba when they wanted to test missles...nothing like Bush and the DPRK at all.

It is strange though that some people seek to diminish (one way or another) notable or historically significant figures whenever possible, that I will agree with.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

exactly - people who make other peoples business their business are the real problem, especially if they are not even directly affected by it one way or the other.

A guy gets a hummer in the Oval office and lies about it to protect his marriage - yeah thats probably not cool - but its his life and his family - but a guy lies to the people about WMD's and outs a CIA NOC for telling the truth - that affects me directly

There is a difference.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
