I'm unsure if you guys noticed I couldn't see or find any threads regarding this but I noticed that some of the E3 footage shows in the hud where the contexts of each button are displayed that A becomes jump at the edge of buildings and beams and the like.

I personally am very happy to see that we aren't having auto jump after all, or atleast aren't forced to use it, even if we can't go jumping for no reason.

Yeah its good that theres some options when it comes to jumping, but I was hoping they would use the whole "puppet" control scheme they talked about. I thought that sounded cool http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
Ah well. I'm sure the context stuff will work well anyway.

I don't think this is breaking from the puppet system really, jumping would be a leg action and it shared a button with things such as kick, admittedly I don't totally understand "blend" being there but it still seems to follow the basic rules.

Then another button shares functions such as "grasp" "gentle push" "drop" so being your non weapon arm

Another is "Punch" "Assassinate" "Attack" for your weapon arm.

And finally I only noticed the "Eagle Vision" for the head.

i spotted a jump button aswell. i love the zelda games but their main focus isn't on parkour so having some choice of when you jump will definitely add something to this game.

that was what I had heard from a number of sources and was the prevalent idea on these boards as well however the video located at:

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/21929.html

demonstrates otherwhise. It could still be automatic if you run off the edge of something, or could potentially just be a setting which can be changed in the options.

I HATE auto jumping. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif It just takes away from the game I think. I want to be able to jump whenever I want. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Don't you have to hold the right trigger and A?

Think about pushing A hundreds of times in just one town visit? I say yes to auto jumping, and it looks like you can jump whenever you want as well as auto jump.

well the A button only changed to jump at certain times during the video so I'm not sure.

Whichever method they went with someone was going to be upset cause there are obviously people who prefer auto jump, but in a game where freedom of movement is important I really think that controlling it is better

yeah, but you gotta remember that they based altaors moves on the prince...and the prince doesnt really have a very "controllable jump.

it was more of a fixed animation where he went the perfect distance if you pressed the button at the right time while facing the right way...

yeah but it will be usefull to jump when you want for example you chase victim A and he pushes people to the ground and when they lie there you can just jump over them or use them as a higher spot from which you can jump on victim A

sure..hehe... of course!

but remember that saying there is more "control" when you press the button aint all that true.

My wild and educated guess:

When you are holding the free roam button he auto jumps depending on your speed, height, and direction YOU are going. When you aren't holding it down there is a button to jump ( a button or x button )... This is what I think will happen and it should please everyone.

I think that they should have auto jump available to turn on or off. I actually dont think that you would be pressing the jump button very much like you all seem to think. Its not like all you do is jump from building to building.

I just stated a couple posts above what will most likely happen with the whole jumping "problem"
