Is there any other way besides the 8x time speed increase to get to the target area sooner. I like flying in formation a bit, specially on the way back from target, but the 10 min round trip of doing nothing on every mission or every time I die is a pain sometimes. Is there a save function or "warp" function I'm missing?

There's no warp function in IL2:FB.

Flight itself is a joy.
(That's why so many people play Microsoft flight simulator.)

My choice is 1 sortie a day with no time compression.
(over 5 sorties a day with time compression. That's just Quick Mission. It's For Kids! )

You said 10min? Whatever the time is, IL-2's target distance is so short that I don't find any reason to compress time or warp. This isn't B-17 simulator.

But if you still want to, you are missing important part of this sim.

Doing nothing is doing something in CFS(or FS)

Agreed, I usually fly one sometimes too missions a day with no time compression - the time to the target is rarely more than 20 minutes and if you're flying all that time and keeping formation, it is quite fun /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I do enjoy keeping formation and flying to target myself. But throw a couple of KIA's in there, when I have to restart and I get antsy to get to the target by then. Specially annoying when the lead planes take out the target before I even get to it anyhow.
Thanks for the info.

no way to do it i'm afraid
but each to his own - although i prefer it and it adds realism to fly the whole mission without compression - i don't always find it practical too - i don't always have the time too fly a 170km round journey
so i won't criticise others for wanting to use compression/warping
- but isn't 8x fast enough for you?
