Brilliant!

Thanks for posting that!

I suppose that's almost ten years ago now but does anyone know what happened to that aircraft? I don't recall there being a flying Mosquito anywhere in the world for a few years now (maybe I'm wrong though!)

I'm sorry to say that that aircraft (G-ASKH (on RR299)) was lost a week after the display shown (assuming it was July 14th, 1996) in a crash at Barton, Manchester. Both of the crew were killed. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

Kermitt Weeks had a flyable, but I think it's on static display somewhere now.

Beautiful plane, a De Havilland DH-98 Mosquito T3.

Tragic http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

I did read recently some bloke in New Zealand was building new Mosquito airframes from scratch. I want one.

One thing from that clip. Doesn't it drive you spare when you're at an airshow and lovely warbird is displaying and the melodious roar of it's extremely rare aero-engine is drowned out by some bloke on a tinny tannoy drivelling on about some arcance aspect of the aircraft in question.

Suggestion to blokes on tinny tannoys at airshows.

SHUT UP!

I saw the one from Woodford going over our house when I was a wee bairn, 25odd years ago. Being a spotter even then I went to my parents (who both lived through the war), "That's a Mossie" only to be told not to be so daft. It's only recently I found out that one was kept at Woodford, so concluding that I wasn't being daft all those years ago, that my eye was good.

Shame it came to such an end.

Great bit of video and a bloody shame to hear that both plane and pilots are no more.
