OK, D/L'd and installed. The Peshka is a beauty http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

But WTF was all this c**p about the Boontybox again back then? The licence said no personal info is collected, and it was easily disabled anyway!

Conclusion: I'd recommend this to anyone wanting to stay current in IL-2, regardless of whether they're personally interested in the Peshka. C'mon guys, it's 10 bleeding pounds sterling so we're not exactly talking about a mountain of money here!!!

Just buy it, OK?

Too much X-Files and most likely listening to G.W. Bush and his mass hysteria speeches.

I like the Peshka. Still can't see the targets (well cars and stuff in towns, airfields are ok) from 2000+ M as well as with the lofte but anyway.

Some first impressions -

* Miss Peshka is a beauty http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/heart.gif A gorgeous graphical model, one of the best yet http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

* The FM is brilliant (within the limitations of the game engine that is of course). I'll even make so bold as to claim that it's actually one of the best Maddox et al. have ever done. Engines are not handed so you've got a bit of torque there, mandating rudder and aileron usage during takeoffs.

* Ground handling feels realistic enough, making this bird steer best with some differential power in tight turns.

* The ground effect is BIG!!! You've got to cut the throttle completely before touchdown if you land with full flaps it seems...

* Aerial performance is good for a twin. The bird feels nimble and fast.

* All in all, purchasing the Pe-2 was GBP 10 well spent IMHO.

Just my $0.002 - feel free to disagree http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Boontybox is just another tool to do things that you allready perfectly managed to do before. It adds not anything new. If I wanna play a game, why should I fire up Boonty Box first? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif

I don't believe any of the spyware stories, it is just hard-drive clutter to me.

Well from your last post, glad you like it, and a big thank you to whoever got this released outside Russia

However, do not think that boontybox is the only reason people do not wish to buy this game. Personally I don't like having to go through '99 steps to get this game up and running,' I would just like a CD that I can just whack in and it installs with no dramas.

See I really don't know very much about computers so boonty wouldn't be a problem as I wouldn't know what it did and probably wouldn't notice anyway.

Pay to download is something else I am not particularly keen on. I have heard that there are many things that can go wrong, dud downloads and things like that...

So see, boonty is not the only reason some people (like me) are not particularly happy with this.

Anyway it is only a game (well a very good simulator would probably be more correct), and the sky is not going to fall in if I don't get this. However, I would be most happy if UBI decided to release a CD version of these addons for people like me, and make no mistake, there are many out there.

Anyway here our equivilent of $20 is like... 5 jugs of beer! (mates rates that is http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif) so the world is not over, just moving from side to side so it is hard to walk...

I don't turn this into a total whinge thread, it does sound like lots of hard work did go into this, and congratulations are due to the people who made this new content http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Googly & Platypus,

Points taken. And yes, there were admittedly things in installing the bugger that were a bit dodgy, so yeah, I think I've an inkling why it hasn't been the hit it should've been http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

So maybe Oleg should just can Ubi, and think up something more customer-friendly regardless of the distribution media per se, huh?
