hi,

i am new here. i have played il2 aep for some times, but i still don't know how to fly the he-111 smoothly. i have been playing microsoft fs2004 for a while, and i know something (just something) about setting the throttles, props, mixture, trims etc. to trim a larger plane such as boeing 737 (in simulation only, of course). is there any figures to trim a he-111 (e.g. at what rpm, mainfold pressure the engines should be running) to make it fly hand-free i.e. hands off the joystick? don't wanna enable autopilot all the time...

Pick the throttle setting that gives the speed you wish to fly, set trim to get as close as possible to hands off flight as you can at that speed, then fine tune the throttle to get it dead level.

Be aware that it will never fly completely hands off as fuel load is continuously varying and no aircraft is perfectly stable. The best you can do is to minimise controls to a small touch every 5-15 seconds to get back in line.

yeah, but... how about the details? i mean... every type of plane plane built has a designed performance setting. for example, a beech baron 58 (from microsoft fs2004) has some figures like this:

Hmmm... I've seen a German pilot's manual for the Heinkel floating around the net, but I just can't find it anymore... anyone?

It would be great if we had these figures for IL2FB-PF aircraft. Maybe those who got the original flight manuals could try to post them. Even if not in so much detail.

trim is to make small adjustments to the movable surfaces to balance all the forces bit by bit... or stuff like that. trimming is to make the plane flys smoothly and hopefully, without any computer aids as in WWII, the pilot can fly the plane without touching the stick during cruising. that is, trim is to make small adjustments to make the plane fly straight without moving the stick always, otherwise your hands will be very tired of holding the stick at a point for several hours.

and so, to trim the plane, it is necessary to find out what is the cruising speed, engine rpm, mixture % etc to fly the plane in the smoothest way, or at least to get closer to the designed performance. don't forget the bombing, because during the bombing sight requires a steady cruise when approaching, so we need some more performance figures to trim the plane to drop the bombs correctly.
