View Full Version : AI stay fixated on landing once they start in pattern even when attacked.

I've been around for along time and the AI seem worse than they used to be in one way. In the way that once they start the landing process they can be attacked by enemy and they ignore them, allowing themselves or the escorted planes to be shot down easily. I just had that happen, I was flying a Lvov Mission in a Lagg-3S4 career. We were moving to a different base and were attacked when we we ready to land at the new base.
We were jumped by six 109s of all things. And I had to shoot down 4 of them while they mauled our four LI-2 transports. Thankfully the ack-ack got the other two!! But the five other Laggs in my flight totally ignored everything and continued lolly-gagging in the landing pattern, without a care in the world. I even tried calling them to help me by hitting Tab+7 and they did nothing.
Not very realistic and I don't remember this type of thing until recently. They used to "snap out of it" if they had enemies firing at them and start dogfighting. Anyone else bothered by this? Or remember it happening back in the IL2 or FB days?? I sure don't.

Yeah its happened to me back in earlier incarnations too. I noticed it recently when I setup a mission where Hellcats ambush landing Kates at a airbase.

It was deadly...at least they have turrets http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

The thing that odd to me is that you have never encountered it before. Once that landing pattern is locked in it doesn't matter what Tab command you issue or request they fly merrily along , being riddeled or watching their charges go down 1 after another.

Good luck on getting anything in the way of a cure. Its been that way forever and a day.

It's been this way since say 1.

It's not right - it's not fair - a fix would be nice.

We'll have to wait and see....
