1st,Great picts man Thank You Sir!

Second. If I was 18, I'd have joined the bombtesting corp just incase that gal might be impressed with my uniform. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Seriously though I have noticed this same thing with the history channel when they show WWII in Color. For some reason when I see those its all much more immediate and personal if that makes sense. In black and white its always a detached sort of sophmore highschool history feeling to those pictures. When I see them in color I'm nuturally at 1st just ..wow! look at them beautiful birds. Then I start looking at the faces and thinking about how young they mostly look and I wonder how many of those great big grins and cocky smiles never got a chance grow old and that makes me profoundly sad. I don't think that given a real choice many of those fellows were that much different than us here. Given that they had no refly button and the deaths wern't virtual I imagine they would have rather been air racing each other than trying to blow each other from the sky. I salute their bravery but at the same time I'll take a moment to mourn the lives they gave as well as the ones they took.

This is great! Love these pics, and plan to save them. If you have any information on the units or pilots, please post it. The fading and weathering shown on some of these birds might be helpful to skinners.

Is this a Ta that was captured by the British, then recaptured by the Germans? Sorry if it's a n00b question, but there appears to be a RAF roundel behind the German cross on the fuselage, and there is the UK tail "flag" (can never remember what it's actually called) seemingly under the swaztika on the tail. And all of the "UK/RAF" markings are faded as though they've been scrubbed at, in an attempt to remove them.

Just found that interesting. Anyone know about it?

P.S. I had no idea how LARGE this (http://www.ww2aircraft.net/forum/album_page.php?pic_id=6993) plane was.

Thats just a short pilot http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif jk, yeah this game doesnt really give a perspective how large these ac are to thier pilot. The wheels on that thing serious look like it can go offroading im sure oleg will make it nose over like many ac in the game if they even touch the ground off runway with full back pressure even.

Thanks Mont_Thrud. Great pics. I too was curious about the Brit/Germ Dora. Any more info on it? I also liked the first pic of the 109 that had the panel under the fuselage cross upside down, thus breaking up the cross outline. Great pics.

The German Ta was captured first by the British. then handed over to the American's after some testing.

The American's painted the tail number FE112 on it, then reapplied crude German marking (for what ever reason to be photographed).

The FE in FE112 stood for Foreign Evaluation.
