Has anybody played this expansion pack? How is it? I fly mostly offline and 350 missions on german side and 200 russian side sounds tempting to me. Is it compatible with the new 4.01m patch?? I might buy the digital version from matrix games

I'm 105 missions into the German fighter campaign and from an immersion perspective it is very good. The mission types are varied quite well and plane types and load outs are historically accurate so far. My only complaint is that the mission menu freezes after hitting the apply button when flying 3 or more consecutive missions. Not a big deal since you can ctrl-alt-del to task manager and stop Il2FB.exe and then restart with no loss of progress (according to the readme this is an IL2FB bug). I don't know how it will work with 4.01 since I am still running 3.04 (waiting for FW190 fuel tank and allied radial damage models to be fixed). All in all I think it is an excellent investment. Good luck!

There will be a review at airwarfare soon. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I don't want to spoil it for you, but there are some things you may want to know:

If you buy now you will get the first free update which includes USAAFand RAF campaigns west of El Banausi, Africa. If you fly the USAAF campaign you may play as the commander of either a P-51, P-47, or P-38 squadron.

Did I mention that it comes with the "Rebirth Of Honor" demo?http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/10.gif

Alot of good stuff here, but for the full scoop you will want to read the review.

I think it is an excellent add-on. The Last Days is great to. And I purchased BANZAI a few weeks ago. All three of these expansions are super. And for those of you running TLD, Tankeriv just released patch 1.7 It is 120MB deep and adds alot. Request a link at tld@airwarfare.com

Thank you guys, I downloaded the online version yesterday and I've been very happy with the product http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
Can someone explain me if TLD is a dynamic campaign where if you fly for the Luftwaffe alter the course of the war? or flying for the allies maybe end the war a bit sooner?

I have all of the add on missions.
Case Blue
TLD
Operation Barberosa
Banzai
Battle over Europe
I like them all, Banzai added lots of missions and coops for the pacific and was needed. TLD is a work of art and belongs on everyones computer who enjoys offline play, go for it and make sure and send Tanker an e-mail asking for the latest patch.

Really digging it right now, and TLD is also tempting me, but I'm not sure yet http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

I have both the TLD and Operation Barberosa and find them Great additions to IL-2. I've been thinking over weather to pick-up Battle Over Europe, Case Blue and the newer Banzi... I wanted to hear more about Banzi before I ordered it though.

I just tried to buy Fall Blau from Amazon UK and they will not ship to the US! Is there another option on purchasing it?

Matrix Games online store does sell them from their website. I just ordered Case Blue and Banzai! via it.

There are dozens of Case Blue at the city centre PC World (yeuk) store here. I was tempted and hoped that Tsisqua`s Case Blue Review would help. To my surprise it didn`t.

What I wanted to find out was simply, does it have a Dynamic campaign? I`m afraid, I simply don`t touch static campaigns. I just do not like failing a mission and just restarting the exact the same mission again ad infinitum. I don`t like being time-limited either, even if one does run out of time the world would not end, would it? You`d still carry on to the next mission. Perhaps it`s obvious to all (except me) that it would be this way, I don`t know.

Anyway, just me.

Your SHIII review was very good though.

I have not played Case Blue but The Last Days and Battle over Europe are excellent.

If Targ or some others could post their thoughts on banzai , operation barbarossa etc I would appreciate it

Thank you for all the reviews. It is very helpful. I don't have any add-ons yet but may in the future. I think I spend more time creating missions than actually playing them. I enjoy it all and this is an awesome sim!

Seafire, don't be put off by the static campaign. I disabled mission success and fly with the attitude that I will do my best to achieve the mission goals but *hit happens. Last night I was tasked in the German fighter campaign to bomb two key bridges with my flight of 12 109s. We took out the first bridge but were bounced by Migs enroute to the second. I looked at the odds and they weren't good, so I told the entire group to attack the Migs. I figure this is the way it really was so why not settle for half my objectives.

The time limits are so generous as to have no appreciable bearing on mission success unless you are completely lost! Give it a try. I think it will suprise you! All the best.

From all of the positive things I've heard about TLD, I finally ordered a hard copy a few days ago.

I second the request for a review of BANZAI.

Since this is about X1/Matrix games and the Matrix games forum is really sleepy, I post my current problem. I just got my TLD hard copy today.

TLD won't install. It has to decompress to my PC to then open a .exe file to install into my FB/AEP/PF v4.01. The problem is it won't finish a decompression. I enter my data and license string and the CD attempts to decompress. I've tried both my CD-ROM and CD-RW drives and I get the same problem on either one. Here's the result...

"decompression error #6 read/write error ..... Setup\X1TLD-PF.msi"

I even tried to copy the compressed file to my PC then decompress. Then I get...

"Cannot copy TheLastDays-Setupv100: Data error (cyclic redundancy check)".

Either error is after 5-10 minutes of "apparent" correct operation before it hangs.

Any help would be appreciated! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Weird. It finally had a successful decompression/extraction. But, it won't allow me to install the FB/AEP/PF version.

I installed the FB/AEP version and it appeared to install. Now I will check it out and see if I need to overwrite my FB/AEP/PF with my backup or not.

I guess I don't need the PF portion for TLD since it is over Europe??? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif
