Incorrect, triangles on sky only for the old Radeon 8500,9000,9200 series, those are low budget cards and 8500 is history. 9500 and up it seems are not listed, thanks.

That's a bummer.

I just had my 9800 Pro fail on me this Tuesday...so I grabbed a 6800gt. I hope it's not overwhelmingly bad. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

Thank god I have an FX5600 sitting here on a shelf, for use with this game until Nvidia prepares their drivers.

From what I've heard, theres not much change in the way the game looks between a 5600 and a 6800... only performance. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

Ahh, no worries.

It's with the 66,93's. I dont even use them. I'm on 71.84's.

Guess I will be running at high everything anyways, thanks. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

The following quote from subsim.com:

"Renegade Status
When attacking neutral units, your status will change to "renegade" for AI....
....Example: attacking a US merchant before January 1942 will cause all US ships to treat you as an enemy for 24 hours after the attack. Besides the status change, any neutral unit sunk will earn you negative renown during the career mode." endit

So... if the BdU sends us off for Drumbeat, we actually lose renown? Or is Drumbeat the exception? Or what?

"The resupply feature is not available for this installment. This issue will be addressed in the first patch.
You should always pay attention to your diesel fuel and try to avoid running out of fuel in mid-ocean."

WHAT!!!!!!!???????????

You forgot the read the part that says "Resupply in patrol" meaning when your not in a port.Yes having to return to a port to resupply is rather annoying...i would associate returning to port when i need an upgrade/crew/repairs but something such as resupplying feels a bit like overdoing it. Need Milk ships ASAP!

Well I have a Geforce 6600 GT if its fine on that, then cool, if not then the simple solution would probably be to use an old driver.

Drumbeat isn't an exception; u-boats leaved for american waters in december 1941, but their attacks started the next month.

Not a problem, Germany declared war on US on Dec 11 1941. First drumbeat boat (U-125) to sail did not set off till 18 Dec, 1941. So didn't even set off until after war as declared.

Anyway, the dev team sent us an update on the nvidia graphics bug:

I have come up with a workaround... use the UZI until the UZO is fixed!

Sure did, problem MAY be solved in future driver versions and we are working on a way to disable it with CTRL+P. Shame to buy a kick *** GC only to elements removed so you can use it

That was with 1 set of drivers.

The game wasn't tested with ANY others before it, nor was the game tested with the current drivers. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Well then lets hope that nVidia can release drivers later than the 66s which work well with 6800Ultra. I know for a fact that any driver after the 66s cause graphic glitches in all games I have, hence why most 68Ultra owners (PCIe) are sticking with that version.

"Time between patrols
Silent Hunter III uses the following conventions to evolve time during the career:
a. Changing or acquiring a subsystem/weapon on your U-boat will evolve time with 1 to 3 days of game time.
b. Changing to a new U-boat will evolve time with up to 2 months of game time.
c. Changing the conning tower on your U-boat will evolve time with 3 weeks of game time.
d. Repairing each hull damage percent at return from patrol will evolve time with 1 day of game time.
e. Even if you don't have damage or you didn't modify/improve your U-boat, the minimum time you have to spend in base between patrols is 28 days."

I like these features, but is 3 months (2 monthys plus the 28 days) sufficient to train crews on a new sub type? I thought that in reality crews trained for up to 6 months before going out on patrol in a new sub type.

So where was it confirmed that any later seies driver will fix the problem and that it isn't a 6800 series card issue in general?

Last time I checked there was no mention of a fix for SHIII listed in the 71.84's and I don't see the problem automatically being resolved with a latter driver (hope I'm wrong though).

That's why new drivers are released, to fix past driver game related problems. But in this case it doesn't look to have even been address by Nvidia yet.

I guess we won't know until the game is tested with the newer drivers as well as any of the beta drivers.

Not everything that gets fixed is in the release notes. We'll just have to do some testing after release, if the issue isn't fixed in the 71.84 drivers. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I bet by a bizarre twist of fate Lanzfeld has an ATI graphics card and still gets Triangles in Hardcore Mode. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

I read somewhere that UBoat crew training varied. Sometimes it was somewhat lengthy, other times they practically flew through training.

If I find the link I'll post it.

Yeah. I thought that it varied from a couple of months up to 6 months, and even more for the Type XXIs. Personally, judging by the few examples I've read about, if I was modding the training period I'd set it to be a minimum of 2 months and a max of 6 months.

UZO and Binos both display problem (+50/-50 degrees from centreline)

@ Silmar,

Don't worry m8, it'll all 'come good' in the end. Nvidia will eventually release graphics card drivers that will fix the problem - until then, just use the work arounds (periscope or Ctrl+P). You still have one of the best gaming cards out there!
