Tonights..menu the "zero killer".

Go figure the F6F Hellcat. Funny though...I just watched a Hellcat Ace and WW2 historian say the A6M ailerons jammed at 200kts, funny they don't in the sim.

Any way just a thought, if you get the chance I recommend watching the series.

It's unfortuate that you consider a TV show a definitive source of reference. In this case 'jammed' is hyberbolic for 'heavy'. In the sim, they do get very heavy.

Such exaggerated comments about the flaws of enemy equipment are common in any war, and in this case, post war. All nations spin history in a way favorable to their national mythology. It works well, because everyone likes to hear how they're better than other cultures.

If you would like to learn about the Zero, I'd suggest something like this instead. I found it very informative.

well after being in this place so long - I think I've given up trying to argue about airplane characteristics. It doesn't matter who your source is - its wrong.

Whether its a pilot account or many of them...or a well researched book or a library of them...it all comes down to one thing.

Whos' flag your waving.

You don't even have to have a flag or be waving anything but your arms...its all perceived as flag waving or worse, a simple secret assignation to promote your favorite ingame online mount to the point that it is somehow enhanced by the developer in a patch or addon somewhere down the line and you 'win' errrm...something.

I have read many things about a great many planes in my lifetime and believe me - there isn't much in this game that reflects what I've read...but thats ok - because I don't use this sim to 'compete' - I use it offline for my own amusement. Its ok the way it is for that - in fact...its a tremendous work of art and engineering all things considered.

I thank Oleg for creating it.

Someday - I believe because of it and Oleg - there will one day be a much more detailed sim with a much better access to the FM aspects of its subject aircraft. (not hardly FSX)
Thats what I look forward to anyways.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Yea Hellcats catching Zeros in a dive. What a farce. Playing this game we all know that is wrong. Also other things about FM. We know that is a farce. After all we have this game to tell the truth.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Many of what you all believe to be true as shown on Dogfights holds true in this very sim. The Hellcat holds all of its advantages in the sim as it did in real life. Aside from a few minor details such as speed is a bit off.

I offer this challenge to anyone who feels different. Face me 1v1 Hellcat vs Zero and I will so such things. Ask me on HL for the lesson. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

The Zero was easily defeated by the Hellcat when flown in its element, as its k/d clearly shows it was. We dont need a tv show to tell us that.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Well..thanks for taking this post and turning into yet another excuse to start an argument on the correctness of the sim, Fritz. And no sir I will not go to your link to learn more about the Zero thanks. I was simply implying that the TV show was very interesting to watch. Its not unfortunate that I consider a TV show a definite source of reference I never said that. I was simply stating a tid bit of information that was introduced in the show, much like you would do about your source of information. What is unfortunate is that you probably have never watched the program yet you seem to think that you can commit on the accuracy of the program and those people who flew that aircraft. It is unfortunate sir, that all you got out of my post was another reason to show you are simply smarter than everyone else and your source of information is better than mine. Well, I guess all I have to say to that is.. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/clap.gif. Notice that the topic title is "Dogfights on The History Channel", and not "my piece of information is better than yours". Maybe a better post would have been. Sarge..I have never seen the program, I'm sure that it is interesting and very informative, I'll be sure to look into it since I have know idea what I'm talking about. BTW when is the show on; where can I find information about the show, is it strictly about the Pacific.

Heywooood, your absolutely right sir, you can't argue about aircraft characteristics around here, there are some you can't even talk reasonably about it or even have a mention about something that you learned while watching a TV program, otherwise you get post from Fritz saying that your information is biased that encompasses a signature blocks like his. Thanks any way.

If a mod reads this..pls close it. It was not my intent to start yet another boring post about aircraft characteristic only to have it high jacked.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Well - I hope it doesn't get closed or locked because your approach to the question of fidelity is not the usual approach. What I mean is - I don't get the sense that you are promoting or bashing anything, just making an observation.

The History Channel is regarded as 'tainted meat' around here because it is produced in the States and uses our media collection and our vets to tell its stories.

Automatically that makes it a pack of lies and propoganda to many in and outside of the States so, by default, anyone who refers to that show in their post in a positive way is made to look like an ignorant Nationalistic pug by the more aggresive haters in the pool.

Personally, I prefer to think of it as a point of reference containing some measure of truth with a little old fashioned, homespun embellishment...they are telling a story after all - harsh cold recital of pure fact would not hold most audiences for long would it?

I like your sig pic BtW...I love the 'Sair.
Never give an inch, Sarge...just keep swingin'<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
