Wish I had the cash so I could bid, but unfortunately I am unemployed at the moment. Good luck with your auction. Track IR rules!

Just out of curiosity, why are you selling the unit?

I am selling it because I could not get used to using it. I am more efficient using my stick's hat switch. TrackIr, though most owners love it, is not for everyone. The first time I used it I got dizzy and it gave me a headache. Every attempt thereafter has not given me much better results. Don't get me wrong... it is a very cool product, but I guess some people (meaning me) just can't get used to using it.

CPS_Dragonaire:

EVERYONE can get used to TrackIR! Everyone! Just make sure you get the latest version of the drivers and use "Enhanced Mode". Then set up a dead space around the center to prevent it from moving around all the time and ease aiming.

If you haven't tried this then please do before you sell it. If you have tried it, then I'm sorry it didn't work out for you.

I personally didn't have any problems getting used to it (once I started using enhanced mode). I find myself trying to look around by moving my head when I crank up MS FS2002 or IL-2:FB for a "quickie" without starting TrackIR. I sure got used to it fast...

Ketalar-

You're not the first one to tell me this... some of the guys in my squad have also tried, but I just can't seem to get a profile setup that is comfortable for me. I have tried dozens of combinations of deadzones and axis speed settings. The problem is that when I set the axis' for quick response, I can not target accurately when necessary and often get lost losing my orientation. When I set the axis' slower, I have to move my head way to much, giving me a bad case of eyestrain and headaches. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

Thanks for your advice, at least it shows anyone reading this thread that many people using TrackIr currently love the product.

Salute.

Have you tried setting a button that centers your view? I am not sure if this is possible. Also, maybe setting a button that disables mouselook temporarily? Again, just speculating here. I was thinking of getting TrackIR myself, and I was hopping not many people have the same problem as yourself.

I bought TrackIR because so many users in this forum seem to love it. I would say 99% of users having nothing but good things to say about it. All you have to do is some quick research on this and other flight sim forums to verify this. However, the fact still remains that you could be part of that 1% that just don't fall in love with the unit like everyone else. That's my case. I wish I knew someone that had it before I bought it so I could have tried it first...

I am trying to sell this item, so I would not BS you.

Sorry, I am not going to disclose the reserve price... but feel free to place a bid in the max amount you are willing to spend. Here's a hint, though: the reserve is over $40 US less than the retail price if you buy direct from naturalpoint.com
Thanks.

I love it.
I'm a lousy shot and can have only a couple of flying hours per week but TrackIR definitely maximizes the experience for me. It adds to the immersion tremendously. I cannot think any other way to control the view anymore... any forthcoming simulation without TrackIR support is worthless in my opinion.

On icon-on shootemups TrackIR is not worth many "points" but on FR mission-oriented servers it gives a definitive edge.

Oh, and RBJ can go suck an egg. The fact that his Aceness cannot get past the trim trauma and his straight jacket hinders his neck usage does not mean the kit is useless for the rest of us.

There you have it folks... if you don't already have TIR and have some extra dough, check out my auction (see first post). As I've said, the unit is barely used... it just wasn't for me.

Just out of interest (not trying to be a smartarse or anything) but you said you'd tried the thing either too fast (minimal head movement) or too slow (steady but excessive head motion).

Did you try a progressive response curve? (minimal motion near centre for accurate control around the gunsight and pit but rapid motion at the limits of your comfortable head movement for checking six).

It is possible to get the best of both worlds with a little tweaking.

If you tried this, sorry it didn't work out for you, it's a cracking addition to your immersion.

Cheers,

SSS

Yes, I did try everything in between, and nothing suited me. What I disliked most was the distance I had to twist my head in order to get the movement I wanted. Upon the head twist, my eyes were forced to move to one side of my head in order to keep them on the screen. This gave me headaches quickly. When I made the unit more responsive, I lost orientation too easily. Perhaps if I had a bigger monitor (bigger than 17") this problem would be lessened. I have heard of other users doing a head swaying technique rather than a twisting technique, but this didn't seem natural at all to me. Thanks anyway for the input though.
Cheers.
