Will there be a patch for the people that did download and a patch for the ones that didn't, or do I need to download the bad patch to get the good one?

You cant d/l the bad patch! It's not available any more. Just wait for the REALLY finished one!

I'd never join a club that would have ME as a member!!.

No, you misunderstand, Oleg and team are probably working on a way to correct the bad code now. So do I need to get the bad code so that it can be corrected, or should I stay with the code I have now and the newer patch will correct that anyway?

Yes I do understand and my points still stand.

1: No-one knows how this will be corrected as Oleg is trying to clear up UBI's mess

2: Wait until an official release email is written as neither you or I or anyone else here knows what Oleg will do next.

The sensible answer to all those that downloaded, and updated 1.1b to 1.1 Final Boosher sir.

Is to uninstal FB. Reinstal, patch up to 1.1b. Then wait for the 1.11 to be made available.

At least that way, you start with a fresh copy. And therefore, no "rougue" code get its knickers in a twist if you try mixing the next update.

I thought Oleg didn't release patches on friday.

If Ubi only released the wrong patch where is the
correct one and why is there a delay?

Hi Boosher

During all the previous uogrades, including those of the original IL2, Oleg has always posted two versions of the patch. One of them upgrades the 1.0 "out of the box" game and the other always fixed the latest available "upgrade".

I have downloaded both patches 1.1b and 1.1 but installed none of them. It's always better to wait for the community analysis of every patch before installing it ;-).

Good flight to you !

"Oops...Looks that the Heating System and WEP controls are mixed !! ": Last radio message heard from polkovnik Lavotchkin. Any coincidence between this event and recent patches applied by russian mechanics to some planes are merely speculative.

To overwrite the old patch is dead simple, simply make available the correct one with the correct version of all the files that the 1.1notsofinal changed. These will overwrite the 'corrupt' files automatically.

As it is only a self executing zip file it will only take a few minutes to make.........but getting the mirrors ready will take longer due to time zones etc.

To roll back to 1.1b:

RENAME your current FB folder.

****NOT TESTED BUT WHAT HAVE YOU TO LOSE???****

RENAME your current FB folder.

1. Install FB from disc to default folder, and patch to 1.1b.

2. Then copy the following files from your NEW folder to the renamed folder (Substitute c:\temp\fb for the folder into which you installed FB):

Directory of C:\Temp\fb

01/09/2003 08:53 659,456 DGen.exe

27/08/2003 12:51 410,119 fb_sound02.SFS
02/09/2003 12:56 14,383,611 files.SFS
02/09/2003 08:58 11,264 il2.exe

25/08/2003 13:56 1,208,320 il2_core.dll
26/08/2003 16:27 274,432 mg_snd.dll

Directory of C:\Temp\fb\DGen

Then delete new installation and restore name of temporary folder.
Do registry fix.

The only gain from this is that all data is retained.....
I can create a self extractor when I get home tonight (BST) that will roll back 1.1 to 1.1b if anyone is interested.
