Don't think there was one for the entire 5th

The following link is to 380 sqdn RAAF (5th AF)and has some discussion about 5th air force squadron designations:

http://iies.www.ecn.purdue.edu/IIES/PLAIC/380/HISTORY/partV-tails.html

Here is a quote from the page that suggests there was no common 5th insignia in use .....

"Like most combat groups before Fall 1943, the 380th went into combat with the aircraft painted the standard OD on the upper parts and sides of the aircraft and the standard neutral gray undersurfaces. This was modified only by the national insignia and, in many cases, a name with nose art."

rgr multi Engine aircraft. IE Bombers, trasport planes and multi engined fighter aircraft like the p-38.

And the color code for all SINGLE ENGINE AIR CRAFT in the us 5th AF was a white tail section. this may have been early
on in the war, but none the less that was the deignation. any one have any additinol links on 5th Af bomb group paint schemes?

And that was s good link thanks. that willactually help a ton. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Yeah

Its just I really do not think there was one for the multi's.

I think they just had squadron ID, National Markings and Nose Art on the heavies.
