When you play with your track ir do you use to center ed exclude it when aiming (switching in other words to fixed view)?
I use to do so but i was considering enlarging the dead center zone and use it free all the time because some times i loose the aimed target if it evades suddendly and i have to switc to free view to follow him.
Thanks in advance

mind you i have got il-2 and TIR only recently so am pretty much a noob
up to now i have used it as it came out the box but today downloaded the charvel profile from natural point which seems to have a slightly larger deadspot

I never switch to fixed view. That's really the beauty of TIR. No switching between views, just naturally tracking the target with your head.

Like gizmo, I've always just used the profile that came with the TIR.

No.It was a bit akward in the beggining but now I´m used to it.I use the smooth curve and shifted the whole curve to value 11 on both yaw and pitch. That´s all I did and it suits me fine.

Agree with everyone else with trackir there is no need to switch to fixed view and once you get used to it you cant go back

I still have a button to turn TIR off and on... I use it mainly for T/O and landings.. especially on carriers.. but I find that the TIR 4 is much smoother.. I also have a center button..

I set the middle zone in the profile for low sensitivity so small head movements won't change the view much when I'm looking forward. I also mapped the TrackIR toggle and center view to joystick buttons. There are some times, like when looking at objects not at 12 o'clock, when being able to quickly freeze/unfreeze the panning comes in handy. Kind of hard to get a solid look at the screen for target ID when you've got your head turned 15deg to one side and are looking out the corner of your eye.

I don't use fixed view at all. I don't know if my settings will help since I got an old version 2 model, but here they are.

Edit Point - Speed
0 ---------- 2
5 ---------- 2
10 --------- 2
20 --------- 2
30 --------- 2
40 --------- 6
50 -------- 25

Very slow across a WIDE middle, but it works well for me. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

How about when you go to a gunners position? if you don't turn it off, nothing makes sense to me! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

I do have 'Center TrackIR' and 'Toggle TrackIR' assigned as joystick buttons. I also have 'Wide' view and 'Gunsight' view assigned as well.

I usually zoom in for long shots, but keep it in Wide FOV for the usual flibbertijibbet AI fighter targets with the Mark I Anal Eyeball feature, otherwise I quickly lose them the moment my finger tightens on the trigger, because they will evade out of your field of view immediately.

Just keep practicing. It will become quite natural very quickly.

cheers

Even then I still leave it on, but the curve I posted is so mild, it's really easy on the eyes.

That came with my old TrackIr2. You can see in the screen shot the year 2003. The read me file says revision 3.03.

I still use the TrackIr 2 and have not upgraded. That day will come with a new PC as long as nothing breaks.

Hmmmm. It appears there are newer versions of the TrackIr2 software available here. (http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/06-support/support-download-software-and-manuals-v3.html)

HFS that profile looks a lot like my TIR 2 profile My DZ was just a bit smaller....

I have nearly no deadzone, and have smoothing on the lowest possible value, 5. When I move my head one bit the view starts to move too. In the middle of the view (out front) the sensitivity is of course somewhat low, so I can move it in small portions (increments would be wrong here http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif).

Just recently I upgraded my TIR 3 with the vector expansion for reasons which I will not state here but should be quite obvious. The very nice side-effect is a much smoother tracking, before it was kind of stuttery. Now it is smooth as can be. The head movement is also very much more natural, no moving the head left and right to turn the view, but instead turning it for said function.

I know, I sound like I'm advertising the thing, (I ain't!), but I just wanted to say what an improvement the VE brings.

And for locking the view (finally ON Topic, lol), I never did this. I thought about it when I first got my TIR, but after getting used to it after 2! weeks, I didn't need to anymore. It is no problem to hold the view still when looking through the gunsight, but after some two or three hours playing I always got a painfull stiff neck (without VE, that is).

Just keep practicing it. It comes in very handy. And I hope convinced someone to buy the VE or TIR 4. It really pays off! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I center my view at startup and run a flat linear profile anymore and have for long time in IL2.

Thank's all for your replyes. I'm already trying to avoid centering and fixing view when I've Target on sight....
