Or against other fighters would it stand a chance?

And.. wouldn;t it be cool if we (axis flyers) had one flyable? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

Comment from the WARBIRDSRESOURCEGROUP:
Rarely does any aircraft show a versatility in armament arrangements equal to the Me 410, which had over 140 different permutations in arrangement involving nearly every weapon in the Luftwaffe's arsenal

Also I love that cockpit =)

The BF110 we already have is a match for the Mossie.

Don't know much about the 410, but I had a model of one when I was a kid. Wasn't it a more powerful derivative of the Me-210?? I do remember reading somewhere that they had a tremendous amount of difficulties with the plane. Did they get it sorted out by the end of the war?? I guess I will bone up on it. Headed over to google I guess!!

Yes, very similar to the 210 IIRC. I think the 210 was the one with the majority of the problems, and, like you said, the 410 was much improved. Would be neat to have http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

The Me-210 was a failed design, the Me-410 was it's replacement and was a good aircraft of its class.

As to whether it was a match for a Mosquito, well that depends on the pilots.

personally , the Me-410 is the coolest looking twin in the game

i would substitute the Mossie for it in a heartbeat

The Ta-154 "Moskito" is not a plane in PF. If it were, it would significantly outperform the Me-410.

The "Mosquito" is a British plane and unrelated.

110 is gravy for a Mosquito driver that knows what he's doing...

A Ta-154 or a FW187 would have been true rivals for a Mossie, unfortunately the 187 was never realized and the glue factor for the Ta was blown up...

One thing that has always intterested me on those planes is the rear ward firing dual 20mm cannon, which were fired using a periscope by the pilot.

Does anyone know how they aimed these guns? Did you just have to point the rear of your aircraft in the general direction of the pursuer? Were they effective? Or were they just to scare the pursuing fighter away?

I would love to hear from someone who knows a little about these unique guns.

The 410 I guess is a bit different idea than the 110. The 410 is more like of the late-war, powerful, fast class, with higher wingloading and less turn ability than the 110, but with much-much more powerful engines and more speed. So based on that, I'd say... I'd take a 110 vs. a Mossie on 1vs1, but definetely a 410 for say 4vs4. Speed and firepower is much more important on multi plane engagements.

It's also a different concept, the 110 was more of a heavy fighter, the 210/410 were conceived as fast bombers that could also perform as heavy fighters. The greatest plus is, of course, is the armament. It has the ability to carry heavier forward weapons, and the remote conrolled 13mm barbettes with practically no dead-spot are nasty indeed.
