Since BoB is coming and you will stop the support for IL-2 series, I think this will be an dignified end for Your excellent game. You started with IL-2, added hundreds of other planes... What is more suitable than end it with an IL-10 !

Well,
There has always been requests here for new planes, new models and so on.
But my request is:
Forget about P-47Y or Ta-152Z or La-9P... (but don't forget the flyable Ju-88 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif).
Just give us IL-10.
Here are the reasons for it:

1. This game was originally conceived as a ground attack simulator with only one flyabla plane, IL-2.
Eventually the game evolved and tens of new planes and differnet models were included, but we never get any new IL-2 derivate.

2. The IL-10 has the absolute right to be in the game. Five thousands produced, entered service in summer 1944 (together with La-7 and Yak-3).

3. Although the game is called IL-2, now quite a few people fly this plane. I can understand that. It's quite hard to stay alive in a 1941 plane against so many latewar uber planes. IL-10 will change this. People are willing to fly ground pounders, just notice how many Beaufighters or P-38 are flown on servers!

4. Everyone will love IL-10. I think downlow it will perform like a P-47, but will have much better armour and 20mm deffensive gun... Even kids who are now crying for the next uber fighter will forget about them and will take the IL-10.

Yes I know that some will say:
"If you want that plane - model it". Well I can't , and I think it deserves to be made by the Maddox team.

But I'm still willing to help and created the info for the Object Viewer...
Here it is (Oleg you can use it/change it freely - I won't sue you as some greedy companies are willing to do http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/353.gif)

Sea level : 512km/h
2800m : 555km/h

Climb rate:
To 1000m : 1,6 min
To 3000m : 4,9 min

(All results achieved with 400kg bombs at NOMINAL engine power)

Range: 800km

Armament:
2 x 23mm VYa guns
2 x 7,62 SHKAS machine guns
1 x 20mm

Bomb load up to 600kg (Typical 400kg)

IL-10 was the natural successor of IL-2. As the war progressed, soviet engineers improved
the design and learning from the war time experience of IL-2 created a new ground attack plane,
capable of low level fighting on equal terms with late-war german fighters.
IL-10 aerodinamics originated from the heavy armoured fighter IL-2I which never entered
production, but the experience gained from its creation was very valuable for Ilyushin€s
engineers. In fact IL-10 was a completely different plane, compared to IL-2. The new plane had
redesigned air cooler, oil cooler, much €œsleeker€ canopy, different wing profile, completely
different landing gear, air-proof fuselage€¦ All these improvements allowed the new plane to have
nearly two times lower frontal resistance compared to IL-2. The plane also received Mikulin€s
AM-42 engine, capable of 2000hp at sea level. As a result max speed increased with more than
100km/h at all altitudes.
Armouring was also improved. After extensive analysis of war-time losses of IL-2s designers
came with a new armouring schema. The rear gunner was much better protected with a €œsandwich€
of two 8mm steel plates, which were designed do withstand a 20mm german shell hit. The pilot€s
backseat was also protected by two 8mm steel plates. Thus in order to kill the pilot a shell
has to penetrate four separate 8mm steel plates! Engine armour was 6-8mm thick, cockpit was
protected with 4-6mm armour. Self sealing fuel tanks was also made from 6mm steel. The overall
weight of armour was 930kg on prototypes and reached over 1000kg on serial planes.
The rear gunner got the new B-20 gun, capable of firing 800 rounds per minute. It used the
same cartridge as the proven ShVAK gun but weighed almost two times less. It can turn at
50? up, 18? down , right to the gunner 45? and left 55?.
The plane received a new sight, new extinguisher system, new radio, new electric trigger for
both guns and bombs, which improved accuracy€¦.

The military trials in June 1944 were successful and IL-10 was immediately ordered into
serial production. 4966 were produced.

The capabilities of IL-10 can be described pretty well with the following episode.
In order to raise the authority and evaluate the performance of the new plane on
28 mart 1945 in Silezia the 108 ShAP organized a demonstrative aerial duel between an IL-10
flown by captain Sirotkin, and a La-5fn flown by leading soviet ace Vitalij Popkov (37 personal
kills at that time).
Here are Sirotkin memories:
€œFirst exercise according to the programme was shturmovik chase by the fighter in a flat dive.
We both gained 2000 meters and started the chase. I gave full power and headed towards the earth,
in a 40 degree dive. La-5FN fell behind me€¦ Then we started a zoom climb. To general surprise,
initially La-5FN again couldn€t reach me, although later it managed to catch me up. Then we
demonstrated a free turn fight. Popkov did all of his best, but he rarely could get on my tail.
On the other hand I, and my rear gunner could catch him several times in our gunsights, which was
proven by the guncams after the duel. Of course from this fight we cannot conclude that IL-10 was
better than La-5FN. But this fight proved that IL-10 can without restraint fight against enemy
interceptors.€

Advantages:
Excellent low level speed, good maneuverability, strong defensive armament. Armour very effective
against most fighter€s guns. Can use a variety of bombs and rockets types. Oil radiator much
better protected.

Disadvantages:
Armour still could not stop most of late war AA shells. Somewhat limited bomb-load.

woah, most impressive, and that also implies that I totally agree about just how badly this plane is needed...we already had a few topics about it around here http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Funny, you were the first one I thought of when news of the Russian release of the IL-10 leaked, Luftcaca ! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I know you'll be one happy fella when (and if) we get it.

Come on guys.. Show some support...
It took me quite a bit of time to compose the info for the object viewer, since neither Russian nor English is my native language. But I think this way(with all of the grammar mistakes) it resembles much more the rest of Object Viewer info... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I can't beleive you are not interested in this plane... It was a beatiful plane...

Oleg told us that a new expansion pack would be done for the Russian audience that would include a rocket Mig variant, the IL-10, Pe-2, and a few other goodies here and there. Plus a new Ukraine map and a China map (for VVS vs Japanese action).

Oleg also told us that the idea was that it would not strictly be for a Russian audience but that it depended on outside factors.

So...thats where these ideas come from.
