As I write news is coming in about a fire at the The National Motorcycle Museum, Birmingham. Early reports say the damage is extensive.

This was the intended venue for European Computer Flight Simulation 2003, where UBISoft were due to make announcements concerning the next IL2 line.

I heard on the radio driving home from work that the roof has collapsed.Nearly all the priceless bikes are feared lost but thankfully they are sure no-one is in the building. Sad news./i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

Yeah, I just heard that on the news as well.

Apparently at least a third of it has gone up in flames.

A change of venues might well be in order now.

Glad no one was hurt. Any back-up plans for the meeting? Not to sound insensitive. Just trying to stay on-topic /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

That is terrible news.
They hold computer fairs there every other weekend.
I live about 4 miles away from it. Got my computer upgrade from there.
I was going to get myself another strip of PC2700 512MB from there at the next computer fair on the 27th September.
Guess not now...
Very sad news, particularly about the bikes...

I went to the show last year and the year before even had a chat and played FB on Olegs PC with him as its down the road from me..

Watched our local news , those with sky digital can see it if they select west midlands regional news, 2 halls have been saved, 400 priceless bikes have been lost but a conference was on at the time and those people saved 300 other bikes, 15 fire units at scene overnight, oh and the hall where the show is normally held was burning/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif ((
Hope they havent lost all the bikes permanently /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif
good news though no one was killed or injured.......

was looking forward to this years show, hope it only moves to the likes of the NEC or can still be held there.

Truly very sad news. No loss of life is the only hope. Shame for the bikes though. Hope they can salvage something of what is left.

Oh, no! I'm glad nobody was injured, but those bikes... what a loss. Many of them were unique.

I live quite close and visiting it is one of my usual sunday bike rides.

Very sad news. British heritage has lost a lot today.

really glad that there are no human casualties, and hope it stays that way.

Shame about the question over the show though......

"motorways blocked, traffic horrendous" says the fire dept.??? - Can't they use the emergency lanes? - do they clog up in Britain when there is queuing on the motorway?

As a historian I feel extremely sad about this loss of unique bikes... All of British istory collected in one spot. An now gone....

that is sad news

personally i don't give two hoots about motorbikes in general

but given the unique nature of some of those bikes -it is another piece of history that has been lost to the world and to future generations also /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif
