Stuka rocks allright. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Can even mix it up with some of the fighters if things get really rough.

Which you shouldn't be able to. Stukas and IL2s in this game behave too...."light."

BTW, how does one use those dive guide lines inside the cockpit?

Hmm i dont use them, and I suck at grades and all that has with maths to do, but I think you line them up with the horizon

I don`t know if it`s correct but I use them by comparing the angle to the horizon, after setting up the auto pull out gizmo I dive and keep an eye out as i tend to nose over too far

With their slow roll rates, slow acceleration, and average turn rates? I haven't flown them but they seem to perform according to their real life specs. The IL-2's flight performance was worthy enough for the VVS to at least consider a interceptor IL-2 model for blasting bombers from the sky. It wasn't a success but I doubt they would have tried if they were not at least somewhat decent in the handling department.

It's mostly an E retention thing. I regularly dogfight with 109s using the IL2 and do very well.

I find both the IL-2 and Ju87 very well represented as far as their flight performance goes. The single seat IL-2s being quite agile, well armoured and armed can be a dangerous opponent for most 1940/41 fighters in a low level engagement. The same is true for the Ju87B and D, most pilots vastly underestimate its agility just to find themselves on the receiving end of its machine-guns / cannons... I've shot down my share of cocky Yak1/7, Hurricane, P40, Spitfire and La pilots that way

Well, what most tend to forget is this sim was built upon a foundation of "ground pounding"...The fighters simply there to try and stop the bombers or defend them.

We are sadly however missing a very important "dive bomber"......The twin engined Ki-48.....That said, until the advent of the heavies being made flyable, for the most part (excluding the TB3 & G4M) just about all of our flyable bombers here were used extensively as low level ground attack....That including the He-111 also known as the "Blitz Bomber".

Sadly, since the advent of mods the heavies as predicted more often then not get used like "Stukas"....There is nothing more pathetic then seeing a B24 break formation, dive in high speed, drop their loadouts and run grass high for home....(ok I lied, it gets worse when then they take them into a turning dogfight and use them that way).

For real Stuka fun don't take the massive bombs, take those smaller ones more commonly used and accept the fewer kills....

Was the ar234 not the Blitz Bomber of which you speak

No...........why I said HE-111.

The HE-111 though able to bomb at altitude was very often used and also intended, much like B25's were over New Guinea.....In low and fast making precision attacks. So "Blitz" like "Blitzkrieg".

The 234 utilizing the name, yet the HE111 the first.

Well the He-111 was used in the Blitz

Where as the Ar234 was called the "Blitz"(lightning) yes? and was a bomber (and recce a/c)

Also the Junkers Ju88 was used in the blitz and so was the Dornier Do-17 so why should the He-111 be called the "Blitz Bomber" and not the others?

As it has NOTHING to do with the London "Blitz".....It has to do with hitting fast, hard and often up close. It was called the Blitz Bomber due to how fast it was, and to be used for low hard hitting "lightning" attacks on ground forces (the guns even considered a "precision" as they could be aimed strafing tool more then defense).

Its use and name coming long before England was a target.

Ah, yes, Flight of the Intruder. My all time favorite book. Fortunately it was a long while before I saw the movie. It's one those that follows but doesn't follow the book, and consiquently fouls up royally. Better Das Boot. At least with that one, I could follow the book scene for scene and there wasn't thing one in there of "editor's imagination".

Yeah, I've seen this. Dive a B-29 on its wing edge from 16,000ft at 600+ knots with no ill results. Ummmmm....
